My closeup of a tree with lichen lost against a far away shot of a tree against a starry sky in the category of Close-up Trees. Really? BOGUS! Clearly nobody is manning the ship!

Actually stars, moon and any distant planets light years away are allowed in "Nature Up Close" category.

Again Shooting America... the problem isn't the fact that people mis-categorise images.. the BIG problem is that Pixoto takes so long to get around to doing anything about it... Report team should be pro-active in this particular category and not rely on members to report, and then take 48 or more hours to respond. How much time would it take the report team to scan the daily additions twice a day and move the obvious problem images? I do it, and I don't get paid! lol. All we hear is "report the incorrect images". our response should be " be pro-active team", and head off the problem. But we know that the 'game' playing relies on numbers of images taking important first votes, that are tossed out after the damage is done so that the game players can get their rewards in skewed voting. Conspiracy theory? maybe, but it is making more and more sense to me as I watch this site.

just for the record (in case Pixoto really does listen to our ideas and think about them), I think replacing the Nature up Close with Macrophotography is an excellent idea. I use the word replace, because I don't think it's exactly what they are going for with the Nature up Close category. But, most photographers have a general understanding of what Macro photography is (vs "Nature up Close" which has proven to be confusing). I took a macro class at the local university and we were required to use a measuring tape to ensure 1:1 ratio and that would be impossible to measure on a site like Pixoto - but many photography sites have a macro site and it's usually pretty close. So, I see the point that it is hard to enforce exact ratio but then I think we are splitting hairs a bit. Macro photography takes patience, commitment and hard work - I think having it's own category makes a lot of sense.

To Joyce, it took me less than 5 minutes to find all the images above. The easiest way is to just inspect the leaderboard. Anyway, I don't have a dog in this category since I don't submit any images in Nature Up Close nor Flowers if I submit at all which is very seldom.

that is just what I meant Shooting..... it takes no time at all to go through the daily submissions and re-categorize... Pixoto staff should be doing that every day... and then rely on members to catch the few that slip through. the way it is done now... is a crying shame. Reminds me of the cart pulling the horse, don't you think? lol... keep on keeping on Shooting!

Absurd. That is not Close Up for any REAL photography curation. Stars and planets are usually "Astronomy."

Hello Steven, some users don't read category description and submit images that should be in different category. If you see such miscategorized images, please do report them and report team will handle your report.

Images of stars belong in landscape category, so such image should be reported as in wrong category. Same goes with images of Moon.

Please note that images older then 6 months from report date can not be recategorized.

I hope this helps.

I hear your frustration Carol...just keep trying :) and re-naming the category to Macro will not fix the problem of old images being in the category and they will continue to duel against properly categorised images. And people will continue to look at the leaderboard and use those old images as examples. nothing will solve that problem.
