Could it hurt to boost a photo if the score is say 704? I am afraid to boost anything after it hits 600 for fear that it may go down in the score.

generally, boosting is a big risk for images that are on the top of the leaderboard already - I'm talking about my experience. I had an image which could have won 1st place if I just didn't press that boost button. at the same time I tried boosting images that are on the top and found them loosing their scores dramatically.

if images have few duels and not yet on top of the board it will probably increase your score.

bottom line - it's a game of luck

The link posted by Nedeljko is great. Jason explains image scores over time.

Jay is right, boosting images could go either way for your image score. It depends on whether your image wins or loses in it's next duels.

If that is the case, shouldnt you stop other people boosting high placed images that are not there own, to bring the score down and increase there own works chances of winning?

Dont know if it happens but it shouldnt be allowed to anyway ?

Just a thought,

you're absolutely right Ralph. This is also the reason because I stopped to buy additional duels or boosts for other people because I felt it's not fair. What I noticed is that in 80-90% of the cases, when I boost one of mine, it drops

I had good intentions when I bought a few additional duels for a couple of photos that I thought were just wonderful, but I stopped when I realized that many times the photos would loose points when they were boosted. Sorry, whoever you were.

I think if you boost an image, then pixoto will choose image with higher points for the opponent. that's why usually the points is drop after boost, except if your image is very very good
