Why isn't there a Bird category?

I was wondering if there had been any consideration given to giving Birds their own category as has been done with Dogs and Cats.

I just had a look at the numbers today for Dogs - (15), Cats - (24) and Birds among the Animal category as - (68).

Birds outnumber the number of Cats and Dogs combined easily.

Good question. There are always enough bird entries to qualify them for a separate category. I also think insects should have their own category -- especially those super-macro closeups of fly eyes. It doesn't seem quite right to have those included in the same category with animals and competing against furry mammals. Reptiles and other cold-blooded creatures, too. Why not divide the animals category into feathers, fur and scales (or cold-blooded critters?)
