Why do you keep recategorizing my photos (they are macro)?

I put my photo of a close-up flower (you can see the stamen & pistol clearly) in the macro category. It was recategorized into flowers. I have had most of my flower close-ups in macro before w/no problems. They could be in either category. I chose macro, like many others I've done. I have had 3 photos recategorized lately. What's going on??? I've had no problems until the last 1-2 weeks.

I think there must be a problem here anyway. I had one picture recategorized last week and it's a very old one, one I posted over a year ago. I don't think it was in the duels. Maybe somebody is just looking at some portfolios and report pictures. Can pixoto check who is reporting images or is this anonymous?

Due to the large number of complaints on mis-categorized images in certain categories I have been going through and reporting images that are wrongly categorized. I am not sure if your image was one of the ones I reported though Michelle. The reports from the community are anonymous.

Melissa, actually a lot of your photos don't belong in Abstract/Macro subcategory...

Like photos of ladybug on flowes, seastar, mosquito, bee, that artificial flower...

Maybe these links can help you in determing what to put under Abstract category...

I've seen many photos in the Abstract/Macro category similar to the close-ups I do & how "close" they are (if that makes sense). Some are far from macro.

I have seen them too, but that doesn't mean they belong there, that just means that nobody reported them as being in the wrong category.

We have discussed that long time ago and Jason make it clear they are in a wrong category.

People are putting macro photos in Abstract category becuase it has macro subcategory, but everyone is forgetting that photo should first be abstract then macro :)

Pixoto moves photo only if it was reported (in some way). If your photos were not reported they wouldn't have been moved (as they didn't), and you would thought they are in right category (and they are not IMHO).
And people ofte go with that if somebody else is doing it I can do it to, so soon you have a category filled with wrong categorized photos, because everybody else is doing it :)

That is why I suggested long time ago to Pixoto to have ppl whou would check categories before announcing daily awards and recategorizing wrongly categorized photos.

Hope you are not angry with me :) I just wanted to explain that photo in Abstract/macro subcategory should firstly be abstract photo :)

Best regards,

Jasenka

Can Pixoto at least think about putting a Macro category in, w/out it being under abstract? There are so many beautiful photos out there that are macro, but not abstract. Just a thought :)

Hi Melissa we have this category for macro nature photos http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...

Insects need to go in Animals / Insects at http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...

Does that help?

As I was voting today, I came across an image that is a good example of Abstract/Macro... where it is a Macro shot, but the pattern, colour and shapes created by the subject matter is actually more apparent and stronger than the subject itself....
