If i take a picture its my interpretation of what i see at that point in time ! My Vision.

So when its uploaded to this site why is it up to several other members who have no idea what i have in mind where they think it should go,,,,,,,

cant go there its got too many water drops........
cant go there theres a bug in the foreground and if you squint and act dumb its the focal point so its in the wrong category,,,,,,,,
cant go there even though its obveously a sunset theres a ship in the water so it must be transport
cant go there its the wrong type of flower for the category ?????

You could write a book out of the stupidity of some recatagorizations that are hapening on this site. usually its probably because someone is getting too much competition for there own work.

So heres the thing, unless its obveously wrong, ie, a naked lady in transport or a spider in sports and fitness... why dont you let the photographer decide where they would like to submit an image ?

Yes a boat in a sea can be transport or waterscape, it could even be sunset if its aproached right. just as an artistic object can be just that even if its covered in water drops

Please show some common sense and stop the recategorization just because someone said so and the look at this or else i will stamp my feet attitude which is going on at the moment !!!

Let the Photographer Decide What They Photographed !............. if nothing else it will free up some time for your staff to do more important jobs !!!!

Thank you Ralph for your suggestion, I will forward it to the management.

Just couple of things regarding this, we do have category descriptions and photos should be posted in correct category based on category descriptions.
Photographers (users) can report images, but they do not recategorize, report team does, and while you are correct that some recategorizations are incorrect and I'm sorry about that, we do get lots of reports for photos that do not need recategorization, so report team do not recategorize such photos. I hope you understand.

Yes i accept that but the system dosnt take into account that an image could sometimes fit more than one category ? if it is reported it is likely to be moved irispective of what the photographer was aiming for when he/she took the picture !

All the decissions are based on the system fitting pictures into boxes by people other than the person who actually took it ?

Ralph, we do take into account that image can fit multiple categories, and if it is submitted in one of acceptable categories (according to category descriptions) report team should not recategorize it.

The point is that there are images that fit more than one category and the decission is still left to the person who reports it because it dosnt look right to them and ultimately the pixoto team who will as have been prooven often make the wrong decission, there needs to be flexability for the photographer !!

It would be nice to be warned first and be given a chance to explain your reason for putting it the category. This could also be considered before the pixoto team makes their decision, but the team rules. If you chose not to defend your action, that makes a statement, also.

Stephen, please see my thread (delete my account)... one of my main reasons is the re-categorization of photos. As you can also see this thread was started over a year ago, this is a long time problem here.
My view on the subject is this,,,, If a photo fits more than one category and it is placed into one of those fitting categories,,, then it falls to the voters. During voting you are told what category or challenge you are voting in,,, if the voter doesn't fell it is in the right place,,,,, vote against the shot..... I had a close up shot of a hummingbird setting on it's nest. the shot was 50% bird and 50% nest.... I placed it in Nature up close (nest),,, which it was,,, I titled it,, In Use,, I described it as a "nest in use", all of my tags referred to nesting... It rose to a score of 720 and #2 for the week. A complaint was made, and it was quickly re categorized as a bird shot and stripped of all score and awards. I am leaving this site if they will ever fill my request to delete my account which I made 2 days ago with no response.....

My take on this entire site is that not only does it have its elite groups for each category and they will destroy your image through re categorizing but they will then follow you, get notified when you put your images up and vote always against your work.

Stuff that went into the 600s are now going into the 500s and so forth and so on.

And we have no control over who follows you.

No one wants to have to take images in such a way that they are exact duplicates of someone elses work. I call that copy catting. And at the same time, no one wants to be told their image is less of an image simply becuase it isn't an exact duplicate of the ones making all the points either.

But then, you don't have any say so here on anything anyway.
