Why are there so many waterdrops in Abstract/Macro? Should they not be Nature Close-up/Waterdrops?

Pixoto - it would be really helpful if you would be specific as to WHERE the waterdrops on stems with flower reflections belong, rather than have them all over the place..........

Hello Dawn, Waterdrops on natural object or plant parts belong in Nature up close if the subject is waterdrop rather then object it is on.

I hope this helps.

In that case - over half the photos in the leaderboard links I have provided are in the wrong category...... and many of them have won awards, so maybe someone needs to take a look at this?

They would Pixoto please do something about it????? The four links I posted are the leaderboards for all the categories listed - if there is a rule in place it needs to be enforced.

There are 40+ images on the leaderboard under Abstract Macro that are waterdrops on plant parts. and another 40+ images under Abstract Waterdrops and Splashes that should be, according Pixoto rules, in Nature close-up. And should they not be in Natural Waterdrops?

Surely you could assign someone to actually look at the leaderboards and see what is going on.....

I've fought this losing battle for a month in Artistic Objects, Dawn, to no avail. In fact, they have increased because they are using toys now. Oh boy!

And I'm still hoping that water drops/splashes either become disallowed or given their own category to battle against each other instead of objects that should be, in fact, inanimate.

I just don't understand why they were so quick to remove my nature - close-up tree/bush because it was in flower to a different category, yet are paying out money and rewarding photos that - by their own admission - are wrongly categorised.....It's just a joke.

Nature up close has been redefined to say the flowers don't belong in Nature up close. I read that yesterday.

But my image was NOT a flower - it was a tree IN flower! I tried to follow the rules and it bit me in the a** !!!!

Makes sense because trees are allowed in nature up close. Unless any flower on any natural object is consider a "flower." I think Jasenka must be busy because she hasn't answered any posts for a while.

These are in Abstract/Water splashes on the leaderboard:

Jasenka - you have stated they do no belong there, so why are they still there?

I would think anything of a plant belongs in nature up close irregardless of the water drops but here's the thing -- most of these members need a refresher course in category placement. They've reworded alot of them recently and members should be forced to read them prior to placement. Like a pop-up that shows the description of the category and then a "Are you sure you've placed this image in the right category?"

These are under Abstract/Macro -

Again, according to Pixoto this is the wrong category for many of these images...

I agree! No 3, 4, 8, look to be rightly categorized and I can't see 7 well, but I would think the ladybug belongs in animals/insects and the ones of the plants are all nature up close. The eyes in body parts and the horse eye in animals. If no 4 is of a weed or plant then nature up close. Can't tell for sure from this viewpoint.

And that's just a few for starters - I did a screenshot of the leaderboard as an example of how messed up the category is - surely Pixoto staff can take five minutes to at least look at their leaderboard from time to time?

Hahaha!! Well then assign a staff member to do it as part of their job - surely it would be more cost effective than having someone have to constantly sift through all the *reports* they get on miscategorised images.

Once in a while, I decide to go through a category and look at the entire week, or even month, and just start going down the thumbnails.....sometimes I include Abstract but, frankly, it gets frustrating because there are so many miscategorized photos in it. It's one of those categories that really does cause a lot of problems and I wish Pixoto would assign someone to pay special attention to it. Some categories are relatively problem-free (Animals, for example, gets a few dogs and cats that slip in, but mostly the shots in there do belong there) but Abstract is one that really does require constant attention.

While on the subject, what really bugs me in Abstract are the number of shots of fireworks that are NOT close-up photographs of fireworks, but an entire scene, clearly showing buildings, people, etc. Those aren't abstract shots but rather should be in Cities - Night (or public holidays, should it be the fourth of July or Canada Day or something similar). It's a pet peeve of mine :-)

Maybe we need one of those pop-up "searches" for category placement that you can put in your subject and it tells you your choices...

Hi After, waterdrops on natural objects are introduced in Nature up close category starting this year, they were previously in Abstract category. I did ask report team to go through Abstract category and they are doing it.

And HOW does this fit *nature up close* - It's a forest , a sunset and a landscape - even in the description - so why is it still there?

Abstract, by the very definition, means apart from the whole, identification or context is lost. If I can tell what something is, it isn't abstract.

Hi Dawn, we do not recategorize images that are over 6 months old. Most of the images on your link are older then 6 months and they will not be recategorized.
If you see image that is in incorrect category, please report it.

Pixoto: Please Please Please .... do away with Abstract. Introduce subcategories into the appropriate categories such as Nature Up Close, Architecture, etc.
