Why is this photographers and others who do the same type of images able to post images at all?

Clearly, these images have been digitally enhanced with the emphasis on generating digital water drops. These images are in "Natural waterdrops".

This image looks like a great candidate for Halloween.

redwar.I have been complaining about this one for some time now.

It got to the point that I quit complaining and when any image like this comes up, I vote against it. If all would do that it would drive this person to a new style .

Redwar - I don't see any evidence that these are digitally created. Instead it looks to me like a well established technique of using waterdrops (usually creating using a spray bottle) as an optical lens. These are the kind of images that are expected in this subcategory. The only way we will move something to digital art is if it looks totally fake. In this case since it is possible (I would say likely) that these were generated optically - I think they should stay.

William - Just like a surgeon might specialize in one type of surgery - photographers often specialize in one certain type of subject and style. IMHO it is not fair for us to begrudge them this if they find satisfaction it it.

That said in this case there is one particular image subject that she probably has submitted to many times and we will ask that she refrain from submitting them in the future.

Jason. I do not begrudge them, Their work is truly amazing. With that being said. A true nature photographer can not compete with this type of photographer. Mother nature does not always offer us a water bottle to spray our subject with, and if she does I myself do not want to take my camera out in a rainstorm. There is a category here for water drops why can't this type of image be restricted to it. And not the Natural Water drops. After all it is obvious these are shot under unnatural conditions.

If you can get a water drop to reflect perfectly a flower and photographic it at a 90 degree angle, I'll buy you dinner at Mannys.

Jason, can you do the same with couple Thailand-based brothers? Ask them to refrain from submitting a waterlily that is. Seems like they got finally tired with the bridge (or maybe it no longer does well), so they are doubling down on blue, pink and purple waterlilies. There is gotta be a way to stop this.

And by the way, I am not even competing in the Flowers category at all.

I thought Pixoto had put the nix on the waterlilies a while back. And yet there are still tons and tons of them. Not as bad as before, but still way too many (along with the single roses).

Isn't our best chance to simply stop voting for those images? Pixoto obviously cannot solve this and who are they (or we for that matter) to dictate what someone should take photos of?
Yet again, there are images that simply spoil the fun for most of us. There are photographers that take photos of the same subjects, the same way....they have very recognisable styles - my solution is that I always vote against them. That is the only solution. When they stop doing so well, they will give up or change. But until we all vote spiral plants with water droplets, violins, water lilies etc. 700+ points, there is not chance this will change.
To me personally, this is very off-putting and I have started to use 500px and gurushots more. If I am not alone in this, that should worry Pixoto staff. Hopefully.

This is also perhaps a good illustration of the voting here:
As a total newbie (you can clearly see this by looking at my images), I took a look at this:
http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...

I tried to learn from this. My conclusion was: "composition is irrelevant in flower photography", since the first image here that has any composition besides putting a single flower smack in the middle of the image is this:
http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...
which is ranked at the 300+ place.
This seemed strange so I started researching flower photography, found a ton of articles that top world photographers wrote on the subject, and not once did any of them suggest that "smack in the middle" is by any means a way to go.
My only conclusion is that this is a stock photo site so maybe because of this the images look like that...

Again, if we want to change this, we should vote differently. Those images get 700+ by our votes. If we do not want to change this, then why harass Pixoto staff? :)
