Why are Dogs and Cats a privileged class???

The daily entered Photos in Cats and Dogs are, as far as i can see, not as many as other animals species, even though they have their own category!
Actualy they could be put together as one category.
In Animals category, very often you can see more Birds, Manmals or insects entries than you will find in cats or dogs!
So, why is the required qualification, for an own category, in cats and dogs different?
It is for everybody obvious that the settlement between Birds, fishes, snails, horses, monkeys, insects etc. is a very poor comparison!
I only want to understand why cats and dogs get benefited from pixoto which actualy makes them to a privileged class !

I would venture to say that there are far more owners of dogs and cats than there are of other domestic pets.

Dogs have been held up as an example of an animal domesticated and evolved to the extent that they will follow a finger pointed to a specific spot... Cats, not so much :-) But, prevalent in homes world wide, more so than say a praying mantis, or Gypsy moth...or Koala none of which adapt to potty training...

From the ASPCA web site-->

Facts about Pet Ownership in the U.S.:

It's estimated that 70-80 million dogs and 74-96 million cats are owned in the United States. Approximately 37-47% of all households in the United States have a dog, and 30-37% have a cat.

Probably sums it up far better than I might...

Cheers, Alan

PS - bugs don't come when you call them.. neither do frogs and snails... my dog thinks I'm a rock star... :-D

True and since Pixoto is a business wanting to sell stock photos and cats and dogs are popular, this way buyers can peruse the leader board for those specific categories and only see cats and dogs and quickly find what they like and want to buy. My take, even though I don't work that way and love all animal photos.

Sorry Jasenka, but with all due respect, this is no help and not the answer to my question.
I am sure that there are, as for example, more owners of cars than dogs and cats all together. Should we then have a car category?
I love cats and dogs and my dog for example has taught me to come when he "calls" after he bounces off! :-)

Hello Renos, Cats and Dogs have their own category for over 3 years now. They used to be combined with animals but upon requests from community they were separated to separate category.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for answer Jasenka! I find it a very praiseworthy conduct from pixoto to accept community request! Why dont you handle the same way whith same other requests from community and saparate some more animals to own category?

Thank you very much for answering, since you give your "standard" answer Jasenka, It is to be feared that nothing will happen,
I rather think that Pixoto wan`t take this request into consideration, handle or try to discuss it.
Please help and give advice what must be done to get equal treatment whith dogs-cats.
Thank you again Jasenka, especially for the trouble and patience you have, i know you are the contact person and it`s not easy!!
