Where does this photo belong? Pixoto has moved it twice now.

I started this photo http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra... in the Babies and Children - Candids category. It then got moved by Pixoto to People - Streets and Candids presumably because there is an adult in the photo (they are hardly the focus of the shot though). The Photo got moved again this morning back to Babies and Children - Candids. I think it belongs there but do the Pixoto moderators agree? Ultimately I don't care which one they pick, but I would rather not have it moved back and forth depending on who's reviewing it.

This is one of those grey area cases. I think it belongs in Babies and Children. It will be interesting to see what Jasenka says.

I agree that Children Candids makes the most sense. Hopefully the move back to that category was Pixoto correcting their mistake.

I do not know why the report team cannoot see and interpret the image.

If the photographer wanted to convey the hairdresser cuttiing the childs hair both the child and haidresser would be in focus. Under Pixoto category descriptions the image would belong in the people category. Clearly in this case the photographer wants to convey the child getting her hair cut which is why the child is in focus with a very shallow depth of field. In this case under Pixoto rules the image belongs in Babies and Children.

Very nice photo btw.

Hmmmm. The subject of the photo is clearly the child, but Pixoto's rules say if there is a visible adult in the photo (even just adult hands, as is the case of hands holding a newborn), the photo belongs in People. I can see why it was moved to People but I'm confused on the latest switch. I'm sure Jasenka will get to the bottom of this.

If they leave this in Children, then that sets a precedent for the entire category that totally changes the categorization of a lot of photos (all those newborn photos come to mind....).

If I think like a photographer, this belongs in Babies and Children.

If I think like a lawyer, this belongs in People.

I think like a photographer until one of my images gets recategorized, then I think like a lawyer while using the "Report" button. :-)

mlast the subject is clearly the child because of your good use of depth of field i certainly hope it stays there, who ever reported the second time must have thought the same , Good luck with it anyway :0)

I've had every single of my images that won enough points and badges removed from its original category and have all their points lost. A close-up of a flower moved to a "single flower" or an abstract photo of a tree reflected in a lake removed twice. I have a Ph.D. in taxonomy and I believe that I am good at classifying things. Screw this. I am not posting my photos in tis site again. The people who report your image are just trying to get ahead and you do not even have the chance to argue.

that is very sad to hear that , some of the rules are not so easy to understand I would have thought that a macro shot of any thing would be nature up close certainly but not a full tree , but I was very wrong about that , i wish you well with your photography in the future .

The Point is actually, if Pixoto doesn`t know the own rules of the different categorys descriptive data, which they came from them, how should we know what they really mean??

Jasenka, does this mean babies being held by adults are no longer supposed to be in People?

Hi Lenore, if adult (or part of) is as much subject as baby (or part of), then image belong in People category. If adult is clearly not the subject but child is (like in this image of Mlast) then image can be put in Babies category.

I hope this helps.
