When does a novice graduate?

If you ever get a 5% or above award in a "regular" category, you're not allowed to enter the "novice" category.

However, if a currently a legitimate novice keeps on submitting in the novice category only, when is he/she "forced" out of it? How many points, awards, etc., does a novice has to earn in the novice category before Pixoto says "Enough is enough, you are not a novice anymore"?

Given the fact that only very few folks earn cash awards, there is absolutely no incentive for currently legitimate novices to switch category. Novices can keep on accumulating points and become top photographers without ever having to move to the "big leagues!"

...by the way, my suggestion is that if a novice player has

> 3 listed *submissions* (i.e., not withdrawn) that have received a 5% award or higher at a weekly and/or monthly contest, or
> has accumulated at least 3,000 awards points

(whichever comes first) should graduate from the novice category.

Also modify the rules of participating in a novice category to *exclude* players that

> have at least one 5% award or higher at a weekly and/or monthly contest, or
> have accumulated earned at least 3,000 award points.

3000 points are easy to reach... 10-20 thousand points would be a more proper goal-score
