When is the crap that is being posted going to stop; when are the Rules going to mean something?

Filter Forge just sponsored a contest that requires 723 credits per posting. This is a contest about presenting groups; there is a rule that a group is defined as having at least 20 people.

The response here is typical of what I see during the duels: crap images and ignoring the rules.

There are images with one or two persons; there are images with no persons and just objects.

And there are many images that I would be embarrassed to have posted by my child.

I paid to go Pro this first year; so far I am not experiencing anything that would cause me to stay pro.

When you look at the images that win against the images that lost you realize that lots of people are just click to gain credits so they can post crap and violate the Rules.

Hello Jay, I think you misread how much credits are needed to enter the challenge. It cost 15 credits per one image entry.
Unfortunatelly not all users read rules, and post anything to challenges.

Challenge is still 13 days open for submission and incorrect entries will be disqualifed in due time.

If you see image that violates the rules please report it.

I hope this helps.

Jay Gould and Will Goodwin I'm curious to know if you think that digitally enhanced " photography" need it's own category. I think they belong in the " Digital Art " category. For more on this check out the thread " Van Gogh vs. Ansell Adams "

Joyce Anderson Do you have a problem with me asking a simple question of somebody? They were related topics. I think you should learn to mind your own damn business.

in what world are these related topics? the question is about a contest concerning groups of people being more than 20 and entries that have fewer than 20 people in them... you needn't be nasty and you are no gentleman. you certainly are a boorish oaf. and what you are doing is hijacking a thread... if they people wanted to comment on your thread they would have. I am certain Will for one reads all threads.

Joyce The topic as I read it was concerning crap that was being posted. I merely expanded on that topic.

If you wish me to treat you as a Lady perhaps you should try acting like one.

Paul, what is digitally enhanced photography? Not shooting jpeg where the engineers that made you camera decide how your image should look? I only shoot raw; all the camera does is capture light. I make all the processing decisions. If you think that there is something call digitally unenhanced photography you are wrong.

All digital captures are enhanced; it just depends upon who/what is doing the enhancing.

Jay I'm aware of that . My general rule on what is computer enhanced photography is as follows : " If it looks more like a painting than a photograph then it's digital art NOT photography." I realize that that is a subjective call on the part of the viewer however in all too many cases it's clearly obvious. I think the best " painters with a camera " make DAMN sure that post enhancement their efforts still look like photography NOT painting. In my humble opinion those are the painters with a camera " that have artistic talent and not just computer skills. I have zero problem with them.
