What is it with Dahlias?

Seriously, what is it with Pixoto and Dahlias? I mean, 7 of the top 8 all time "nature up close" images are Dahlias... sure, nicely taken technically, but really... DAHLIAS?? Is there a Dahlia appreciation society lurking in the murky underworld of Pixoto. Every day, Dahlias, and more Dahlias... Seriously, some variety would be nice.

Almost as bad as women with scarfs around their heads (Trying to channel Steve McCurry's Afghan girl??)

Cheers

Gary

Unfortunately there are some on here that only have an interest in winning. They come across a winning formula, either dahlias or water lillys with water drops and just post the same day after day. The unfortunate thing is that people keep voting for them day after day perpetuating the cycle of Dahlias and Water Lillys.

There is so many waterlilies and dhalias per day that voting is always (i have got only pair of lily to vote) against lily-lily or dhalia-dhalia! You have to skip or vote, so simple is that formula, winning formula:o)

OH yeah, sorry, there are Dahlias AND Waterlilies... the photos are so homogenous that I didn't notice the species change. I wonder if these people know how boring their portfolios really are. I mean. some of these people have NOTHING but flower heads in their list. Centrally positioned, no artist merit other than the flower itself. It's like a bleeding production line. I can't imagine why anyone votes for them - I think the "SKIP" option should be more prominent. Or there should be an option for negative votes...

The problem is that individually each of these images is quite pleasing, and in a one on one voting situation has a very good chance of coming out on top. As a body of work it's incredibly tedious and I wonder how anyone can spend so much time shooting the same thing time and time again. Sure, these dahlia or water-lily specialists have huge scores and top rankings but I wonder whether it's worth anything beyond that. Is anyone buying villas in the south of France financed by a homogeneous portfolio of flowers?

OH... you HAD to bring up villas in the south of France didn't you... mean spirited and spiteful thing to say. Didn't see any dahlias down there (or water lilies for that matter)

It's amazing how 10 guys can take 10 photos of dahlias or whatever flower and make them all look the same.

What's up with stuff splashing into water or stuffed covered with water drops?

Oh and a Challenge for Colored Pencils?

I'd like to see more originality.

don't forget the straws....

and food category is a joke with week after week of bell peppers and lemons/limes into water. Why do people keep voting for them?

to see originality you have to scroll way way down- to the 400's level.

Why do they keep taking the same photo? Sad.
