Dodgy image duelling. The two images appear to me too have very unequal scores
The top one which is mine 95 duels 54 wins 41 losses.. The other 85 duels 45 wins 40 losses..now even if it achieved another 10 wins highly unlikely but not impossible it would be only 2 wins in front.. I have also noticed that it has competed against several images 3,4 and even 5 times, whereas my image has duelled against the same images much less in fact only 2 images twice... i know you will say that the duelling evens out over time, but this comes across at best as unfair and at worst error in the scoring algorithm, that is supposedly fair..

I have seen it written that the y try to get it to about 50/50 wins to losses for everyone so that they can see where you end up in terms of points not number of duels won. IT all depends which images you are pitched against and thats the bit I would like to understand better

Yes it seems very strange to me how an image can be duelled against the same image up to 5 times, and not just the one image, which could be a simple anomaly but 3 or 4...there has to be something wrong with that!

Rick - to answer your questions please read: http://blog.pixoto.com/2012/09/why-wi...

As to playing the same image repeatedly - this definitely happens but keep in mind it is different people voting on the image so they are very valid votes.

I understand the theory of it.. i still have an issue with duelling against the same images, as you say sometimes it is necessary but should there not be a limit to how many per image and how many times in 100 duels..

I guess I'm not sure why there should be a limit as long as there is good variety. We always pull from a pretty large random group if comparable images are available. Fundamentally it shouldn't impact the score either positively or negatively.

But if an image is being duelled against the same images 4 and 5 times and happening 5 or 6 tomes per 100 ..if it is due to not enough images in that score range it should be paused as it is for other images even on pro accounts..
https://www.pixoto.com/images-photogr... i moved this from insects to flowers as it was scoring very badly and it could in my opinion be in either category, it was scoring better but it was reclassified back to insects where it is now doing even worse and been paused!

I haven't experienced being dueled in the same image 4 to 5 times. As far as i remember one of my pics was dueled with the same image up to twice but after that it seldom happens. Maybe your just unlucky to experience this as i would say. But i guess i wont happen all the time. And about your photo, i agree it could be in both category. I think pixoto should let you decide which category you feel comfortable without them recategorizing it back and forth.
