I recently posted a photo that was taken down because someone complained that it had a "watermark" and had apparently been copied by me. I received an email from you explaining why it had been removed (1 of 3 that I submitted for a challenge contest.) I immediately responded to the email and explained that this was NOT a watermarked photo, but was one I had taken recently a a lake in my hometown — completely MY photo from MY camera, and only slightly enhanced for clarity using my Lightroom software. This was over a week ago. I have had no response back. Until I do, and the issue is resolved to my satisfaction, I will no longer submit to Pixoto. Please look into this. LaJuana Murphy Brann. ( I have tried to contact you privately but unable to do so.)

Your cricket shot has a watermark, ie your name, and that is not allowed by Pixoto. The shot that was deleted seems to have also had the watermark on it.
Having a watermark does not mean you have copied someones shot, a watermark is your name.

Thank you for the explanation. I was not aware of this, and could have taken the name ( ie; watermark ) from the photo. However, the grasshopper one was not mentioned or removed. Perhaps, then, I need to voluntarily remove it as well?

if you have any photos with your name on them... please do remove, it makes voting for other photos fairer... simply because it will probably be removed anyway somewhere down the line...and the duels would be wasted on something that will be disqualified eventually... :) it is easy for people to misunderstand what watermarking is on this site.

Be aware it may end up on Google Images... possibly low resolution, but free for the taking...

Elaina Mc I've wondered about that myself. Does Pixoto take any steps to prevent that?

Hello Paul, we try to use industry standard protection methods including watermarking (user can select to put Pixoto watermark) and right click disabling.
Images posted to Pixoto, and any other photo-sharing site, find there way on to Google images. We could add a robots.txt file that stops search but this is exactly the opposite of what we, and the vast majority of our members, want. It would dramatically reduce traffic to Pixoto and their images.

I hope this helps.
