Top Contribtors

I just noticed that "Top Players" has been changed to "Top Contributors" when searching for where one stands in any given category to which they contribute, whether it be for the week or the year. Or maybe it's been there for awhile and I just hadn't noticed.

Anyway, I think changing the nomenclature is a good idea. It also falls in line with what Ralph Harvey has been pushing for over the last several years...giving recognition to those who regularly submit to the contests and who put up big point numbers for their top ten images for the day, week and month. Though I realize Ralph and others would like the "Best Photographers of the Year" award to go to the top twenty "contributors" in each of the categories instead of the top twenty togs with the highest average of their top ten scoring photos, there doesn't seem to be much enthusiasm from Pixoto on this suggestion to date.

Perhaps Pixoto could meet on middle ground here and think about giving out two banners, the usual red one for Best Photographers of the Year, based on Top Contributor rank (top 20 in each category) and perhaps a gold one for Best Photographs of the Year, based on the top 20 scoring photos in each category. This would give due recognition for those who consistently contribute high quality images to Pixoto, which only helps it grow in stature as a major photo site, as well as those who have published extremely high scoring images in their category, despite the amount of their individual participation.

I realize this may be a bit more work for Pixoto staff, but the fact remains that without those of us who contribute thousands of quality images to help your site grow you wouldn't have a site. The work load would also be cut down because you no longer will have to add up and average the top ten scoring images of every member on this site, which is what you have done in the past to determine Best Photographers of the Year.

Seems to me this would be a win/win/win for Pixoto and those who put in the hard work and time to participate in your site, as well as those who submit super quality images that rank in the top echelon of their categories.
