Too little choice of what to judge.

I really don't like that when I go to cast votes I have to do so with all these subject matters which I'm not terribly interested. It would be nice to be able to check some boxes by the genres we're interested in judging rather than being forced to look at everything.

but in that case some would get loads of votes and other categories would get few. Its much fairer that we see a selection of all, we are picking the best photo of the two , to me the subject doesn't really matter.

Terry is correct, all of the categories need to participate in the duels :)

I'm not saying all the categories can't participate. I'm saying there's categories which just don't interest me. As it is I already use the "skip" button regularly, but why should I have to at all? If you want to vote on every category then that would be your choice and you should be able to choose that. I don't need to.

Something like that may help, for sure. Out of focus flowers covered with water droplets get really tedious, really fast.

Your motivations may be genuine, but imagine how that could be used to cheat. If I want to influence the vote in the Babies & Children category, I could choose to only vote in that category. Out of only 100-150 images added there daily, even though I'm not allowed to vote for my own, I could easily consistently and repeatedly vote against other images more frequently than I could if I waited for the category to come up randomly. Currently I might see an image in that category less than one in 10 times I vote, but if I voted there more, my votes could be used to influence.
:)
*Note- I do NOT try to vote that way... but I'm just pointing out the obvious possibility that people DO vote that way, and how it would be even more skewed if they could choose the category for all of their votes*

If a picture is poor then you vote against it. Maybe instead of skipping the shots you aren't interested in you could pick the best shot......I'm not keen on the many lotus flowers we get posted but I do vote.
But for the votes to be fair you have to see all categories.

Sandra, this voting system is already very easy to manipulate and in more than one way. So unfortunately your point is already moot.

Terry, this isn't politics. And even if it were its not compulsory. That's why the skip button is there to begin with. In the short time I've been here I've already utilized that skip button a bare minimum of a third of the time. This been due to either subject matter which wasn't interesting to me personally or artistically, or, both photos were crap and I couldn't begin to bring myself to encourage such work by voting for it.

Cool. I love certain types and not other types. Judge me as you wish. :)

It's a moot point now. My free trial ran out and I'm not signing up as a paying member. Thanks.

I suspect your voting patterns are going to get your account reviewed, if not banned. You joined this site knowing full well the conditions and rules involved, you have absolutely NO right to dismiss anyone's work out of hand due to subject matter, and even less right to refuse to vote for less polished work. You're in effect skewing the voting system and in my honest opinion should be removed from the site entirely. (Offensive bit removed)...
Take your attitude somewhere else. (Better Sherry? )

Everyone has to start somewhere and Pixoto can be an inspiration to others who are learning and trying to improve their skills. Please have some respect for the people who are trying to learn. Any negative history we have experienced should inspire us all to make someone else's learning experience more enjoyable than the one we had.

I'm still getting notifications of people commenting on this, but for some reason I'm not seeing the new comments on my phone. Either way, I received an email fro Pixoto saying that my free trial was over and my profile could no longer be seen. So I've removed the few pics I had up and won't be signing up for the subscription to the site. All of this conversation is now irrelevant. Thanks.

Christian, you do not need to be a PRO to continue to post on the site. You can continue with a free account if you wish. If you still wish to discontinue your participation, you will need to send an email to DISABLE@PIXOTO.COM and ask that they remove your account. The tech team has to delete it, Please send the email from the email account listed on your Pixoto.com profile.

I will close the thread now so you will not get any more comments from it.
