Too much submission

Hello Scott,
I think it’s time to intervene.
For some time, I had noticed the behaviour of a Canadian photographer on Pixoto, who was becoming unbearable.
This person floods the duels with an avalanche of photos, which seem to come straight out of his memory card. No treatment, no sorting... she empties her card on Pixoto...

Will you report on your own, with the following statistics:
3 January 2019: 32 images of 68 in category "Flowers" - 49 images of 149 in category "Animals"
4 January 2019: 40 images of 89 in category "Flowers" - 25 images of 90 in category "Animals"
5 January 2019: 31 images of 72 in category "Flowers" - 14 images of 99 in category "Animals"
And by analyzing the entrances of these three days, you will easily understand who I am talking about.

I don’t want to hurt anyone in this process, but I am sure that such behaviour is likely to disrupt the functioning of duels, even if Jasenka says otherwise.
In addition, I have been told of similar behaviour in "transport", "landscape" and other "sport" which I have not verified by myself.
Finally, I have already reported in the past disproportionate submissions within the challenges, with people who do not hesitate to submit more than 150 images in the same contest, without any results. Which made me give up all participation in these contests.

I believe it is now time to study a system for limiting submitted images, for example, to a number 'n' per person, per day and per category. This number 'n' will have to be defined.
Scott, what do you think about that?
Thank you for your attention.

Gérard

I would suggest that you name the person that you are talking about rather than "a Canadian photographer" or better still just offer a suggestion to Pixoto too limit the number entries per day.

Did you consider that the "Canadian Photographer" may not be that interested in the contests and is displaying their work for friends and family to see by going on this site and if they win some awards so be it.

I am offended by your remarks and I am a Canadian.

Hello Dave,
Don't be offended by my remark, you are not the person that I am talking about.
I didn't want to named her, because I didn't want to offend anybody. It was not my goal.
My goal was only to submit an idea in order to raise this problem of mass submission, and to open the debate.
I didn’t think it would trigger a controversy. Sorry.
If I can reassure you, I was talking about Ms. Denise O'Hern.
Let’s not be chauvinistic or unpleasant.
Regards
Gérard

When I started dueling as an eager to learn novice member, I was sometimes too enthusiastic in submitting new images as well as selecting the resubmit option multiple times. I read the rules, and found no advice on too much submission that Gérard brings up. After getting to know some of the other members, I was gently advised about an unwritten rule limiting the number of submissions to 6 per day per category. One thought is to make this the 4th rule on the submission page:
Contest Rules: 1. No Watermarks 2. No Very Similar Images 3. Your Own Content 4. Limit of 6 images per category per day.

Warm regards

With over 67 thousand images maybe she is using Pixoto as a backup for her images or even saving space on her own computer.

I, and others, have made so many constructive suggestions and proposals about limiting submissions to maximum 5 - 10 images per day and category, since over 2 Years now and never got an answer, i gave up. Last year (2018) i haven`t entered any images.
If Pixoto does not fix some key issues im not willing to show any images this year either.

Wish everyone a Happy New Year !!!!

Renos, thank you for continuing to Moderate Challenges even though you say you are not submitting your own photos.  That is our loss, sad to say.  I too have noticed an unusual number of like images poured into one of the Challenges this week.  The moderator said duplicates would be disqualified but that did not seem to translate to the person who had lots of clay pots to enter.

This is my first time on the Blog, so I did not know there was even an unspoken rule about how many to put into a Challenge category in one 24 hour period.  When I have perhaps entered three within minutes of one another in the same category,  I find I am competing against myself which is a crazy, unproductive entry. I try to space them out but that is time consuming.

You are missing the point and I knew who you're talking about.

We are all better than this.  I would not have singled her out as a Canadian, French, Italian or any other Nationality but as a photographer.

After saying that, this website is international and that is a great thing.

Gerard and Raphael and Renos, I do agree with you on limiting the number of entries per day.

I do respect and appreciate the work of all photographers on this site.

And I too wish all a very Happy New Year

What concerns me even more than one photographer adding too many images, is that so few images are being entered lately....seems to be less and less each month. I was hopeful that Scott would turn things around, but even he seems to be on vacation for the last month. Scott, are you there?????

I agree, SweetNanna55-  I have seen less and less images submitted, and that makes voting difficult. Not at all sure if limiting the number of submissions would work well--seems a bit too authoritarian or something.  And really, the best images usually do float to the top, regardless of the numbers submitted. Just sitting here hoping things will improve!  I have loved participating in this site for a good many years, and so enjoy the wide variety of photos submitted!

What is the issue with submitting too many images? It requires the user to vote for credits to submit those images. If the images are poor quality they will quickly get paused out.

Hi Renos,

Yes, they are worthy.  I apologize for the delay.  You will see a very active release schedule these next few months.

Obviously we want high quality.  I will put these recommendations under consideration and will give come up with a solution by next week. I might consider placing the restriction only on users that have a low average score to start with.

I don`t think placing this restriction only on one group of users is going to work and its unfair.
Restrictions  should be for all users the same otherwise confusion is programmed!

And ....... "Next few months" ????

Thank you for answering Scott, have a nice weekend.

I agree with you Renos, restrictions should be for all users, or should be for nobody.
And, as Ad Spruijt, I prefer quality me too.
