This seems totally ridiculous

Thanks - I just think duelling an old image 3 times in a row with a new one is more than a little excessive considering there must be more current ones...

Not only should that category not be dueling at all (what's the point, since, for all those photographs, the day, the week, the month, the year, is history), it also is worth mentioning, I think, that if a photograph of a flower was chosen three straight times over a non-floral image in the Nature Up Close category, then there are three people who do not pay attention when voting.

The information above the duel would obviously have been just "Nature Up Close" (it could not have listed the sub-category since Dawn's photograph was not a flower from last year) and instead of choosing to report the flower, people voted for it. Can there be any doubt why so many people are frustrated about the voting?

Another thought. Maybe new members should have to take a quiz before being allowed the privilege of voting......be shown a series of 15 or 20 duels, some perfectly fine and some with obvious errors (obviously miscategorized photos, prominent watermarks, a very poor photo vs. an excellent one of the same subject such as the Eiffel Tower, a photo with text vs. a photo without text in a category that's not Typograhy, etc). You don't pass, you don't vote.
