This seems totally ridiculous

I had an image that was doing really well in nature up close - then I got hit with being duelled against a flower from 2011-2013 that was categorised under nature up close.....and lost 3 times in a row.

Oh well, bang goes my image score - thanks for that!

Pixoto - out of all the images in this category , pitting my images 3 times against an old image- does this really seem right?

Hi Dawn, I'm sorry about this. I will ask again when will flowers be moved out of Nature up close.

Thanks - I just think duelling an old image 3 times in a row with a new one is more than a little excessive considering there must be more current ones...

Not only should that category not be dueling at all (what's the point, since, for all those photographs, the day, the week, the month, the year, is history), it also is worth mentioning, I think, that if a photograph of a flower was chosen three straight times over a non-floral image in the Nature Up Close category, then there are three people who do not pay attention when voting.

The information above the duel would obviously have been just "Nature Up Close" (it could not have listed the sub-category since Dawn's photograph was not a flower from last year) and instead of choosing to report the flower, people voted for it. Can there be any doubt why so many people are frustrated about the voting?

Above, I meant to say "not only should that sub-category not be dueling at all" instead of "category" .... it seems I'm not allowed to click edit and fix that.

Another thought. Maybe new members should have to take a quiz before being allowed the privilege of voting......be shown a series of 15 or 20 duels, some perfectly fine and some with obvious errors (obviously miscategorized photos, prominent watermarks, a very poor photo vs. an excellent one of the same subject such as the Eiffel Tower, a photo with text vs. a photo without text in a category that's not Typograhy, etc). You don't pass, you don't vote.

Just thinking out loud..........

Imho the algorithm should take this into account, and not to duel with the same image in a span of time or number of duels

Jason has got it into his head that his stupid and pointless algorithm works and will not budge despite the number of complaints that it is generating, I don't know what it will take to wake him up to what is happening.
