One of mine was at about 730+- and is now at 707. Unless the duels on a photo show the pause icon ">" it's doubtful that there is any way for you to stop it from dueling.

If there were only 50 to 100 competing photos in the data base... your photo might stick at the higher number. Thing is... there are a large number of competing photos in the data base and more new photos coming in every hour.

No matter how good a photo is, or how good we might think it is... there is always one that's better or one that someone else thinks is better.

Photos never stop dueling -- they'll slow down after a while, but the duels never stop. I've found that I should never get too pleased about a high-scoring image until it's been on the site at least a couple of weeks, or even a month.

The down side is when a photo sinks a bit, but the up side is when a photo you thought was stuck where it was goes up a bit. :-)

Yeah..."I stopped boosting but my score went up anyway". No one ever complains when that happens.

Thanks all for your constructive views and opinions.

I mistakenly thought that if you was given the option to clear duel boosts it meant it would no longer be considering for voting... what a dope I was eh?

Not a dope at all, Just about everyone thought that same thing at one point or another. I'm impressed you have a pic that made it to 700+. I have only had two pics out 500 do that.

Valley Togger, in Pixotoland, usually what goes up eventually goes down. I would have thought you understood that if you've been submitting photos for more than one month on Pixoto.

Surprising that you have been submitting photos to Pixoto for a few months and never noticed that before.

To be honest I post to a number of other sites and had an invite to join this... trying to find out what makes this place click but deep down it's like most other social media pictures sites I reckon... you have to play the game. I would say though the standard on here is not as good as some of the others I know - that's just my opinion of course. I spend time voting on here and wish I could skip 80% of the dross.... I don't quite understand why the average pics keep coming up when there is lots better on here?...

The way I understand it the better pics that win early duels get more duels quickly and reach the point where they are rarely dueled a lot quicker than the average pics which stay in the often dueled pool of pics longer.

I have pics that reached 650 to 700 in less than 12 hours and the dueling rate dropped way off. And some average score pics dueled on for weeks at 400.

Another possibility is some folks with low score pics keep boosting and boosting, so their pics keep showing up as they hope the boosting will grow the score. And with better pics of high scores. those folks quit boosting and then you don't see the better pics so much. (only two cents of course).

Of course, I'be been on this site just since mid February of this year, so I'm pretty much a newbie.

With that said, I have two images that have gone to 700, about 100 in the 600 range and an obscene amount between 450 and 600.

What I have noticed is that the two that are at 700 are no longer moving up or down. In fact, hundreds of my images are not going up or down. These images were submitted anywhere from a month to a month and a half ago.

I suspect these are considered no longer competitive and could be weeded out. Especially ones that have never gotten any kinds of awards.

Anyway, mostly everyone here who has replied to your post has pointed out the reason why yours has moved up or down.I'm just pointing out that you may see the image stop going up or down after about a month after you submitted your image.

You are experiencing the daily, weekly and monthly award competition roller coaster ride that happens on this site. And that's not excusing the fact that you have the right to know your highest score and have that recorded as a statement of fact.

Valley Togger, buildings aren't my thing, but with the tree and composition, it's an excellent photo.
