Pixoto team,

I wanted to inform you that many (I've got a list of at least 45) of Pixoto's AllTime Best Photographs (including mine) were stolen and monetized on www.tsu.co.
They deleted the account of this person immediately after reporting but I know that he had sold several images already.

I'm really upset and disappointed. I never thought it would be that easy to steal images from Pixoto.

I've sent a copy of this message to disable@pixoto.com. Please delete my account IMMEDIATELY.

Thank you

Thank you for letting us know.  There will always be unscrupulous people who will steal the work of others and try to pass it off as their own.  If you post your images on the web anywhere you run this risk.  In general our philosophy is that trying to protect against this by ruining the look of your images with a destructive watermark will do more to hamper your ability to profit from your images than it will to enhance it.  That said if you go to www.pixoto.com/settings/market you can add a destructive watermark to your images which will greatly limit theft of the image for web display.  But I know you have elected not to do this and I would be interested in understanding why.

Maybe it's because watermarking is just an option and not a default setting. How many here knows that there is such an option. It took me some research here in the forum before figuring it out.

Hm... I'm a little confused... I thought the destructive watermark will only be added if I agree to sell my images. I'm not interested in selling my images. Having fun only...
Just tried to figure it out, but I couldn't find this option. Maybe I'm too stupid.

There is no checkbox. Only a green button to join the Pixoto Market.

I'm so sorry, but I don't know what you are talking about... There is no 50%. I'll post a screenshot

Mariko - I'm sorry about this.  Your account is so old that the market terms were separate from the signup - newer users don't see that prompt.   I forgot it even existed.  I have fixed your account and turned watermark on.  New images will not be added to the market.  Please let me know if you would still like to delete your account.

Oh... good to know that I'm not stupid ; ) So now my photos are watermarked and at least a little bit safer, right? Thanks, Jason!
Well, in this case I would like to keep my account. : )

Same here, i have no purpose whatsoever in selling my images and only use this site for fun but not anymore and is making me think whether i should keep my account on here.

Pixoto should let you upload your images without the duels and image scoring as it means NOTHING!!!!

Awards mean nothing and photography of the year means nothing.

Exactly, Jamie. It only means something to the cheaters who keep submitting the same pictures to make money. If the money prizes go, there will be no more point to the duels for them, and if the duels go too, the site will be a better place.

That's what I thought too... But as I told already, I'm not interested in selling images. It would be nice if someone of Pixoto could confirm this.

Ah. Ok. So if I join the Market I still have the choice, right?

Thanks, Garces. You are more helpful than Pixoto staff.

Mariko, you need not join the Pixoto Market. I have just activated the watermark on my images. What I did was to click on my profile icon in the top right hand corner and then clicked "My account" . That opens the page Garces referred to. If you click on the market label a window will open which gives you the option to join the market and sell images and canvases. Underneath that is the "50%" he referred to and right underneath that, there is a check box for the watermark. Remember to save the changes. Thank you for informing us about the photo theft.

Mariko, if you join Market, and you don't want to add new images to either stock or canvas sale, just uncheck appropriate boxes in Market tab.

I have just realized that although it will help to watermark ones images, the duel page gives the option to enlarge images - a screenshot of that might be taken as some of the images are rather large.
