Were it not good that Water lilies should have a Separate sub-category ? There pics are in much abundance than all other flowers, and some times image duelling become un-intresting and repetitive ?

Here we go again. How long will you ever stop complaining about the lilies. When we were in Nature Up Close you whiners said, "make a separate category for Flowers". Now we have a separate flower category. You want another category just for lilies. Ain't that ridiculously AWESOME!

Lalaji, a separate sub-category would not make any difference, since they duel with in the category... they need their own category of over represented subjects... for water lilies, bridges and waterdrops. I agree that after a while it becomes repetitive to see the same images but there are a few people that insist on loading the same thing week in and week out. It has become a matter of obnoxious personalities that think it is fun to be rude and they get their jollies insulting anyone that doesn't care for the present situation. As long as this is tolerated, nay, encouraged, it will not change. We will admit that the lily pictures are pretty, there is no doubt of that. but what is happening now is just bullying, they have hit the top and now only want to dominate by sheer numbers. now all I do is simply skip said duels or vote for the 'other' guy.

Don't let them get to you - if all they crave is to be image of the day, and the only way they can do that is by posting images of water lilies, then that's fine by me. I can tell that most of the individuals who post such images aren't terribly creative, just by looking at their portfolios. Some only have maybe three subjects, and repeat posts of the same time after time after time.

Those people aren't photographers. They'd probably cheat you in real life too, if it would gain them an advantage.

BTW - it says just below here that I should 'get emotional' - believe me, you do not want to know how I feel about these people - I'd get myself banned.

they use a flower photo backdrop, then photograph the drops infront of it and catch the backdrop photo as a refractive image..

photoshopping is also allowed and this may account for some of them.. so long as the image LOOKS like it is real, it is acceptable.. if it no longer looks real then it goes into digital art. anything goes... that is why there is no longer a pure photo classification... unadulterated photos, that have not been photoshopped to the nth degree have a distinct disadvantage and are a rarity to find. I am not talking about simple saturation, contrast and minor fixes... I am talking about all out manipulation and cut and paste. it is a disappointment to me but there it is.

the common reply is that they have little to photograph so they concentrate on a few subjects.... balderdash! They are playing a technical/ tactical game and it is working for them... there is money to be made and awards to be won.. it is a matter of strictly ego. It is not that they are good photographers, but that they can dominate and rule the world of Pixoto. The alchemists of the middle ages had the same attitude... we have a secret recipe and we will use it for our own gain, to hell with the rest of the world. Is it cheating? only if everyone else plays by common rules and they don't. Is their way working? most definitely yes.

Actually, that's what I'm gonna do. I don't wanna be affected with these any more. I do enjoy my work. No, I don't consider myself as a great photographer there others who are really great and either I follow them or vote for their photographs. I don't wanna waste my time again arguing and explaining here. I will upload photos that looks nice to me. And I will make sure that these forensics will never see any duplicates anymore. Please stay away from my porfolio...or if you like to lurk, it's fine as well, you're always welcome. Good luck guys!

I'm shooting LILIES, WATER LILIES, Tin Nicholson. They all look almost similar because they are LILIES they are not ROSES. But they are NOT DUPLICATES. You talk about respect, have respect with your self by concentrating on your own photos.
