As far as customization - the PRO account does not have an increased amount of customization currently (but I like the idea). The key features of the pro account are:
- 100 imageduels for every image submitted
- Full imageDuel history
- A hire me button on your profile and a PRO badge (see http://www.pixoto.com/justinngphoto
- PRO Stats (these are only partially complete so we are not advertising them now)

It's a 7 day free trial before your credit card is billed.

Thank you for your reply!

In my opinion $71/year is a high Pro membership fee. 500px is offering

Free Membership
Free forever

Plus Membership
$19.95/year

Awesome Membership
$49.95/year

I really love Pixoto but will have to think over paying $71/year.

Thanks for the feedback on pricing Dipali! Pixoto and 500px are very different in what is offered in the paid accounts. We have some other really cool stuff coming down the line for PRO accounts as well. Stay tuned!

I understand why it might seem high relatively to 500px or flickr. That said I think the value proposition is completely different. For that extra money with them you get to submit more images and have a nicer portfolio. Well, we already let you submit as many images as you want, and we don't have a portfolio option. But that's not why people come here.

Pixoto is about the ImageDuel process and getting the feedback of having dozens, or possibly hundreds, of people voting on your images. The full ImageDuel history provides even more of that essential experience. The extra duels just make Pixoto less time consuming to manage (for some photographers this could save dozens of hours of voting time per month).

Soon Pixoto will also be a place to find great photographers (we'll be introducing local search soon) so the hire me button comes into play then.

Given the 100 extra duels for each PRO image it is very important that we keep the proportion of pros to total accounts very small - so we need to keep the price high to create the right balance. This is our first shot at it - and we think the price is fair - but we'll watch and see what happens and adjust accordingly.

How about adding the following:
1. A way to filter your photos by category or even subcategory or by date
2. When sharing your photo in facebook I would like pixoto to include in the description of the award you won for the photo in which category instead of me having to write it down.
3. A way to download back the photo I submitted just in case I lose my backup.

Thanks,

I'll see what we can do about 2 - but that would be for everybody too
3 - will be done for PROs this week. (thanks for the idea)

The PRO signup page now has https in the url.

If you already purchased your membership, don't worry your information was still submitted via https.

This change was just made to reassure the user that the form will be submitted via https even though it previously did.
