Agree with Keith on this one. Darrell Raw (http://www.pixoto.com/daonie) is usually fairly careful not to repeat much - despite his focus on nature, and his photos are pretty awesome.

However, if you want to feel gritty toothed about repetitive photos - then just go to the "flowers" section of Nature up close... Thousands of repeats there... Any alien visiting planet earth and looking at the flower pics would be convinced that water lilies and dahlias are the most common blooms to be found... Yawn!

This is downright hilarious gaiafrique. One has been praised for a good catch but this is the biggest catch. While these two had been busy discussing duplicate/similar pictures for the past few days, how could one so particular with duplicate and miscategorized pictures such as Mark missed to check jberneugenios profile first before grabbing every bit of opportunities to discuss one's "obsession" with whining over other tog's pictures especially when someone has the time to notice other group of photographers having similar pics. I mean he could not even wait for the holiday to pass and let the admins enjoy time with their family. Always wanting an immediate response.

You gotta feel more sorry with individuals resubmitting their pictures over and over again. While it is everyone's rights to resubmit their images especially if one believes they didn't get the fair amount of votes for their images, I believe one still has to realize that their is a time to stop resubmitting a losing image for multiple number of times and start taking pictures again instead of whining and being a cry baby. I dont see much difference with seeing similar images everyday like the lotus flowers Mark has been bored and sicked about, and seeing same images everyday because they have been resubmitted almost everyday. It is very simple, if they have been losing for almost a month of resubmission then there is really something wrong with your image.

Fair comment Lupert, and yes - Jbern's photos are stunning.

But it is similar photos such as these (and the many duplicates and near duplicates from a few handfuls of other photographers) which would have made Pixoto institute the new laws I suspect?

Oh I absolutely agree with his photos being stunning and they may have been taken before the implementation of the new law.

it would have been different had he not commented on this thread as it had raised the issue on duplicates and near duplicates with his images even if they were submitted before the said law was implemented especially since the one he had in question "gansforever" had spectacular and stunning images as well that were submitted even before this said law was implemented.

it is just that the issue at hand on this thread is similar images. thus the question raised. Some may had the unintentional submission of almost similar pics as maybe most of us photograph what is available to us or things we generally love to photograph and adhere to it. I myself guilty at times. And may I used the words of one tog who said "I take my shooting opportunities where I find them". the problem maybe when this similar images begin to saturate a particular category. It woud not hurt to photograph a different subject at times or photograph same subject but to keep it still interesting too.

First I do not underestimate the images of others, I respect their entry all players here have their own unique and stunning images.
With link http://www.pixoto.com/gansforever all his pics are good too I just want to ask/share only to admin and other with open minded ideas if this is applicable because if you will see almost all of his images 370+ is uploaded after the new rule.
And to you John you don’t have right to destroy a person's personality with your own ideas in the first place you dont know the person.
To lupert thanks to your open minded heart and thinking.
Happy new year to all

Who is Lupert Ramos..it turns out to be a friend of his. It is most intriguing.

Is it not applicable to you just the same since youve been still uploading those similar pics after the new rule. It seems you are going against your own argument. I could provide links to give examples but I'm refraining from doing so as it gives you the impression I am destroying your personality. I didnt know photography could do so much damage, with pun intended.

Sorry if I give you the impression that I am destroying your personality. Perhaps you dont get what I am trying to point at. And I believe most of us dont know each other in this forum or in this site either but we do share ideas and ask questions just like you asking the question above, but that did not mean you were destroying gansforever personality as well as I am guessing you dont know that person as well.

and perhaps you are not also aware that your images had been in question before as evidenced by this thread and if you read further, this thread was one of the reasons why we have this new rule.

You gotta feel sorry for these individuals, I suspect most of us here are here because we love and enjoy photohraphy. What kind of enjoyment could they possibly be having taking virtually the same pic time after time?

No need to feel sorry for me Dmitri, After seeing Jberns pics I recall complaining about the similarity of his pics also. Then again you know what it feels like to be caught with duplicate/slightly altered pics. Don't you, I bet it feels bad, doesn't it?

Was searching for a different subject entirely and found this thread:

http://community.pixoto.com/pixoto/to...

A quote from Jason Kiefer from that thread...

"Due to resource constraints, for now this policy will only effect images submitted after May 31st and after (we will still enforce our policy of not having near duplicate images after Nov. 2011)."

So the "new rules" on duplicate images kicked in from June 2012, but there WAS an existing policy about near duplicate images which had been in place since November 2011.

Dear Pixoto guys - please have a look at the photographer's images as reported by Oniram... There are some "similar image" issues which need assessment.

Again...

An obvious recrop of the same photo (see EXIF) and second submission (on the same day)
http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...
http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...

and then, although not the same photograph - extremely similar images of exactly the same flower, simply one close up, on the same day.
http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...
http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...

Please Pixoto - deal with this photographer. Serial duplicate submissions!

Does this mean I can now start uploading recrops of my photos? Reported directly and here but no action taken - the photos are all still there...

Please could there be some further response from the Pixoto team?

PS: If you guys are too busy judging photos for the awards to deal with these things right now - please let us know...

IC ... is this why it's hard to get score above 600 in Flower category?

This is "fruit in water" in Food category all over again ...

Yes! The picture taker floods the category with similar photos of that day's freshly purchased bunch of flowers with studio lighting and backgrounds. Tragic really that a "Nature up close" photograph should be taken in a studio...

Definitely fruit in water like the Food category!

Maybe it's better to make an extra categorie: natural flowers and flowers taken in a studio... So everyone gets the same chances and there is a differencen between the two...
