this topic has come up before.. I believe the answer was that these togs have a club and they take similar or the same shot and then compete amongst themselves to edit and submit here... the same guys that ruined flower category with water lilies have invaded the fungi jungle.

I have no explanation for the mushrooms but I do want to address the issue of two people taking similar photos.

My wife, Carol and I are both members of the site. We both have pro memberships. We take pictures almost daily in our hometown and we travel on weekends to other places to shoot. Last weekend we went Charlotte. This weekend we are on the Outer Banks of NC. It's awesome that we discovered our enthusiasm for photography at the same time.

Because we are in the same place at the same time with cameras, we take pictures of the same things. This morning it was a frozen fountain. This afternoon it a lighthouse. Our EXIF data shows that we have different cameras. I have Canon T5i she has a Canon T5. We even have different cell phones so that can be checked if we submit similar pics to the Instagram and Mobile category.

Only one person has voiced an issue with this since we've been members of the site and after reading an explanation similar to this one, chose not to pursue it. I say all of this to offer another explanation for instances like this one.

Lou, I have no problem with similar shots... but when they are taken from the same tripod, under the identical conditions and edited to look identical it gets a little monotonous to say the least. and it has been pointed out that exif info can be manipulated. It seems that these togs are just making a mockery of the site and we just have to put up with it. We agree that they are efficient photographers, they know which end to point the camera but if they put at least 10% of their effort into creativity it would be a welcome change. But I don't see it happening soon

I hear you. No one likes abuse...or idiocy. As for Carol and I, we we to be actually the same person, our conspiracy would have to encompass not only Pixoto but also Facebook, Instagram, 500 pixels, Twitter, five kids and 11 grandchildren.

Lou in all due respect, There is the same alley all over your portfolio. I think one is sepia, one normal mono, one colour and one filtered colour :) Don't need Carol to double up :)

Alley? Do you mean boardwalk? Or tree covered driveway? I don't think I have any alleys pictures nut I have plenty of those.

Maybe it was a mushroom tour! Or maybe a photography workshop celebrating the fungus among us!

...(Why yes, that was sarcasm...sorry, couldn't resist).

Hi Ad, sometimes users photograph same subject so images can be similar across accounts.

I hope this helps.
