Reporting

I have recently reported a few images during voting in the Nature Up Close category, always flowers, only to receive an email advising that the report has been rejected as the image in question is more than six months old.

I appreciate that this is built into the report mechanism but there is now way of knowing how old an image is, so would it not be better to exclude images more than six moths old from the daily voting?

Hi Michael, all images can duel at any time competing for All time leaderboards.

Of course you can't know during voting how old image is, but since all images can be reported for all report types, we introduced that automatic notification is sent to user who reported image that image is over 6 months old if reported for minor infractions (like wrong category). That image can still be reported and it will be handled for major infractions like watermark, copyright infringement...This is just substitution for previous pop-up that was shown when image was submitted more then 6 months ago.

Thank you for suggestion though.

I understand what you say but it does put me off reporting when the report is likely to be rejected.

Thank you Jasenka for your further response - don’t worry, the main point is that the report is rejected and given the way the system is set up it is something we will have to live with. Kind regards.

A (possibly) better way to do it, is to open up whatever category the photo is in for...say...this month.   Go through those if you are interested in helping Pixoto find the improperly categorized photos.  If there aren’t too many, then you can go through last month, or even this year’s photos.  And that way you can see the date the photographer uploaded the shot.

The only way, I am aware of to open a category is via the Leaderboard. This only shows images submitted that day, the previous day, two days ago, this week etc.
So I don’t think your suggestion works. The main frustration is seeing such images when voting.

Michael, that’s how I do it. You can report images in the wrong category from the leaderboard.

OK, thank you, but doesn’t solve problem of images more than six months old which was my original gripe.
