Reported photographs in 'illustration' not being recategorized as 'digital art'.

The Category descriptions in the site very clearly say: If your “illustration” includes a photo then it should be placed in Photography/Digital Art and not illustration.
However many such images using prominent photographic elements continue to compete under the illustration category. I have personally reported many photos, but they are not being recategorised.

Hi Arjun,

Due to an unusually large number of reports, the report team has fallen behind and is working to catch up. I am sorry but there will be some delays in getting the area straightened out.

Hello Sherry;
I understand the work pressure. However, several of the top contenders in the 'illustration' category are wrongly categorised. In fact, for some, the only value is in the photographic element: they aren't really good illustrations. If the category is not sorted out before the awards and one of them wins, pixoto's credibility will be under serious doubt.
Best wishes.

is there a clear .. or more complete example of the difference Pixoto could post? ... and provide images as examples. I know I scratch my head when I try to determine the difference between photography/digital art and illustustration.
... Please augment the definitions!

In fact, Pixoto has very clearly defined the difference: 'there should be no photographic element' in illustrations. Thus we may infer that the illustrations are supposed to be drawn by the artist, digitally or manually. The art work produced by digital manipulations of photographs/photographic elements would then be digital art (I know, this nomenclature is misleading as digitally drawn illustrations are also digital art, but the previously mentioned distinction guides the user to an extent).

What is disappointing is that Pixoto does not make sure that the rules/definitions are followed, and digital art works including photographic elements continue to win in the illustration category. Not being able to disqualify work which do not meet the competition criteria is one of the worst qualities the authorities/managers could have. I was so disappointed with their lack of effort that I just withdrew all my entries.

I suppose, it depends on how you produced this. Did you digitally produce the superimposition? Then it is Digital Art. Else, if it was a multiple-exposure shot done with the help of a camera, it is a photograph (even if you digitally corrected colour/sharpness etc.)

Arjun ... That distinction is helpful ... this was a multiple exposure. Thanks!
