re-categorizing photos without consulting the photographer

I've had photos, that I've taken with my cell phone and entered in instagram and mobile, be re-categorized to whatever category they'd have been in if I'd used my DSLR.  Why?  I have a couple of photos that I want to enter now, that were taken with my cell phone, but am hesitant to do so because I do NOT want them re-categorized and competing against actual DSLR photos.

Hi Lena,

Sorry you experienced that.  Can you provide links to the images in question so I can look further into this matter? Dio they have the EXIF information displayed?

Unfortunately the reporting process does not allow a response from the photographer and has been like this since 2011. We are working very hard to change this process and expect to release this change the end of this month.

Hi Scott, I'll have to try and find the photo in question. But, yes, it showed that it was a Samsung whatever it is so I thought it would be obvious that it was a phone.

Hi Lena,

I pulled the history on that photo and I am not showing it has ever been resubmitted.

It must be another.  If you could identify it that would be great. I will also reach out to the reporting team and follow up with Jasenka.

I recently resubmitted the photo in question, back to instagram and mobile and so far so good.

Lena, when we recategorize any image we will always send e-mail notification about recategorization.
Did you receive e-mail notification about recategorization?

I've checked history for your account and your last image that was recategorized was from May 15th, 2019. After that, we don't have any record that any of your images were recategorized by the report team.

Yes, I did receive notification. And I asked about it right away. Explained that it was taken with my cell phone but I got no response. I did submit the couple of photos that I was concerned about to instagram and mobile and so far... so good. So we'll see.
