Provision to list a photo in 2 or more categories

There should be a provision for 1 image to be listed in various categories. Because, there are some photographs which share 2-3 categories. If pixoto does not want to do that, you can limit it to say a maximum of 5 categories.
So, whoever uploads a picture, he can list that image in a maximum of 5 categories.

There is no rule against it. I see this already happening across several categories.

I see Achit's point, but I'd disagree. I personally feel that a photographer should know enough about their work to say what single category each of their photos belongs, as each shot should have intention. If though ranking is low after submitting a photo, then, currently, a user can delete that image and upload it again to different category. With that being said, perhaps an alternative would be the addition of a new feature to allow a user to "change" a picture's category (but not have it multiple listed). If this was acceptable (changing categories), then all points would be lost and image duels would start again; additionally, a change in category would cost points, just like submitting.

No matter the intention of the photographer when the shot was taken, the fact still remains that some images fit into multiple categories. Best example of this is a photo that has been edited/manipulated in some way. It could fall into any of the regular categories, or the photoshop category.

Not to mention the viewer doesn't know what the photographer's intention was when they took the photograph. Just last week someone stated that the Cities Towns and Villages sub category should be removed from the Landscape Category and that all images should be put in the Travel category. When I shoot my city, I'm not traveling, so my intention certainly wasn't a travel photo, yet at least one person thinks that all photos of that type should be placed in the Travel category.

you're right Kara. I'm living in Thailand and I put my cities (and tempel etc.) pics in the travel category but I don't travel to shoot them. That's the same with my sunset on the beach pics. I never know if I have to put them in "weather" or "waterscape" . Never mind, I enjoy the site.

I see what you mean Kara, and you're right: A photo can fit into more than one category. I'm not sure though how this might affect scoring; for instance, would a picture (submitted to multiple categories) get an aggregate score from all categories it was judged in, or would it get only scores for each category? That's kinda why I'd lean to the idea to keep the pic in a single category at a time, but maybe there is a way to manage the scoring fairly.

Nathan, I've entered a couple of my images in multiple categories in the same week (if this is against the rules, someone in charge please let me know) and they have a separate score for each category.
