Portrait-oriented shots changed to landscape. Why?

Many of my images uploaded in portrait orientation have been changed to landscape. This results in ridiculous-looking images like sideways trees. They didn't look this way when I first uploaded them. Why the change?

Hello Ben, I'm sorry you are having problem with upload.

If your photo contains non-standard rotation exif data, it is recognized by our image editing software (which crops the image on your "my images" page) but not by our resizing software.

Can you please try to save the image as rotated and reupload. Typically when you export an image as opposed to saving it rotations will be applied.

If this doesn't help, please let me know.

This does not help. This was not an upload problem. It is a Pixoto problem. The image displayed correctly after it was uploaded, and for more than a year after that. It is only recently that this and several other of my photos have changed orientation on Pixoto.

Hello Ben, I'm sorry about misunderstanding.

I will forward links to our tech so he can check what the problem might be.

Hello Ban and Joyce, I'm sorry about dely in reply. The images had non-standard exif data that will make them appear rotated differently in different settings. If you download the images, open it on your desktop they should be rotated the same way as on our site. If you save them with the correct rotation, and resubmit them it should be fixed. Please elt me know if you will do as suggested because we will reimburse credits for the already submitted images so it will not cost you to resubmit them.

first off, it was fine for months then the orientation changed... two I am not pro and can not download. three, I lose the credits, I lose my points and I have to duel all over again.... personally don't give a damn about the credits, and I can't get more than 500 points on any photo lately it seems. and I refuse to buy pro. ever.

I downloaded one of the images that is not displaying correctly on Pixoto and yes, the downloaded image is rotated incorrectly. However, I compared the downloaded image to the original image that I uploaded. The original displays with the correct rotation, either in thumbnail view in Windows Explorer, the Windows previewer or Photoshop.

Based on this evidence, I do not believe your excuse regarding EXIF data. Rather than find out what went wrong with your website and fixing it, you are attempting to blame Joyce and myself for something that was clearly NOT caused by us.

To continue to beat the dead horse here, the images in question displayed correctly when uploaded and continued to be displayed with the correct orientation on Pixoto for months afterwards. Then, for no apparent reason, the orientation for several images changed.

Unlike Joyce, I do have a Pro membership but, based on this experience and the unsatisfactory and unprofessional customer service regarding this issue I am going to let my membership expire at the end of the current billing cycle.
