Please put a counter at the top of all leaderboards

When I go to a leaderboard, I want to know how many photos have been entered in that category. The only way to do that that I can see at present is to scroll all the way down to the end of the entries. This can take awhile on a page with many entries.

Why not put a number counter--odometer style--at the top of every leaderboard to keep up to date on how many entries appear on that page? Thanks.

Hello Dennis, it is my understanding that the counter we had before had to be removed because it was too much of a tax on the system, too many calls to the database because of the constant change in the count.

Okay. I see the problem on a constantly changing board, but what about when a board is closed? Couldn't there be the total showing at the top? After all, it shows at the bottom. Anyone who has tried to scroll down to the bottom knows how frustrating and time consuming it can be to get down there.

It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to post the daily total, the weekly total, monthly, and so on, in any given category (sub-categories need not be counted) right there at the top of the page, once the entry deadlines are passed and the numbers are known.
