I received an email from Pixoto saying my wide angle photograph of the ocean, islets and a few rooftops was improperly categorised as landscapes, and that they had moved it to Buildings & Architecture › Other Exteriors. Tell me, do any of you think this constitutes "Buildings and architechture"? https://www.pixoto.com/images-photogr...
I'm am sick to death of stupid random re categorisations because some whiny little twit complained about an image that beat theirs. 2/3 of this image is sunset, islands and ocean, 1/3 is some rooftops - not an architectural feature in sight. Either your reviewers are blind, or brain dead.

Hello Darrell, as per our Category description page - http://blog.pixoto.com/category-descr...

For Landscape category it says:

"Landscape – Photos where the natural scenery is a subject. If the subject is anything other than a natural scene (e.g. a city, a building, a person, an animal, a natural or man-made object) – don’t put it here. City, building, person, animal, a natural or man-made object can be an object in landscape photography that adds interest to the scene, but it must cover less than 20% of photo and must not dominate the landscape. Subcategories: Beaches; Mountains & Hills; Deserts; Weather; Prairies, Meadows & Fields; Underwater; Forests; Starcapes; Waterscapes; Cloud Formations; Sunsets & Sunrises; Caves and Formations; Travel"

Specifically this part: "City, building, person, animal, a natural or man-made object can be an object in landscape photography that adds interest to the scene, but it must cover less than 20% of photo and must not dominate the landscape"

Since you say yourself that rooftops cover more than 20% (which is 1/5th of the image) your image is not eligible for Landscape category and it was recategorized correctly.

I hope this helps.

That's bullshit. First, I may have said 1/3 but in reality buildings are about 10%, there's some canvas sheeting, hardly buildings. Then there's the really really obvious subject, this photo cannot be called anything other than a sunset picture (Landscape). You're covering your arses because someone screwed up, why don;t you just admit it and fix the bloody problem? Same old shit again. I stopped selling pictures or contributing regularly because you can't get your house in order, and I see NOTHING has changed in the 7 years I've had my account.

Darrel, I'm sorry but all man-made objects take up more then 20% of image, so image is not eligible for Landscape category.
