Hello Bridget, all images when start have ImageScore of 0. Top scoring image all time (for now) has 861 ImageScore.
What is considered good score is very relative, depending on category and what user itself consider to be good score.

I hope this helps.

Being new, and with a scoring system based on an algorithm versus a scale, I am clueless how I know if I my photographs have any merit. What is the average score - or the median? That way I can tell give or take how my pictures are doing.

Bridget, it all depends on the category. As example, yesterday leaderboard: for Abstract category it was enough for image to have 510 ImageScore to be #10, while for same place in Animal category image needed to have 656 ImageScore, in Sports & Fitness category for #10 place it was enough to have 541 ImageScore, while in Landscape #10 place had 646 ImageScore.
