is this allowed? i can understand animal skulls, i have en posted some as artistic objects
but a freshly dead animal is gross and not artistic in any way i have reported two such images more than once and nothing has been done

also i don't think human skulls should be allowed, which i have seen before on the site

Hi Heather, both of dead animal images have been removed.

I think human skulls are allowed, but I will check.

And babies are normally not strewn about like that. I see opossums every day, they are carried on their mothers backs, they don't leave them out like that.

Betsy...you missed the second point of my post... the story may be of destroyed habitat and how it affects wildlife. It is not like some of the other pics that have been removed... ones of gore and no story at all, just road kill. This may be a picture that documents environmental destruction.

No I didn't Joyce, I understood what you were saying. I guess it personal preference, to me it is just as bad as road kill.

There is a skull challenge, so I imagine skull photos will pop up more often now.

I don't mind skulls as long as the skin, tendons and meat are removed, it borders on the macabre when a fresh head is pictured.

As an American...I have a problem when people try to "speak for me!" This is a PHOTOGRAPHY site for pete's sake, and looking around the whole world is certainly more interesting than staying in one's own backyard. [Not that I don't shoot most often in my own backyard-I do! And it is fun and interesting--but please don't limit me to that!] I love to travel--and have been to places where skulls have been acceptable for many different reasons--cultural, decorative, religious, whatever. Yes, sometimes they are disturbing--but the whole point of photography is NOT limiting! To not only portray the things that some folks think are beautiful, but to show things as they are; to explore the imagination and show things as they might be; or, to show a beautiful landscape, or to show a bizarre take on a landscape...the possibilities are limitless! Unless of course, you try to impose your own particular views on someone else...

I am not limiting anyone, In my opinion I just don't like it! I also am an American so you know we also speak our minds. I don't stay in my backyard either. I have lived in Italy 3 years England 3 years and various other states, and yes skulls are acceptable in various cultures, I have submitted skulls. In my opinion dead animals are not an art form. I just don't have to vote on them.

Skulls per say are not what is disturbing, its the ones that are fresh and laid out in poses that disturb me. I will say no more.
