I have pics in landscape/ sub section waterscapes why are these being dueled against picture in landscapes/ sub section mountains and hills. They are nothing alike how can that be fair dueling. My pics suddenly go from winning in their selected category because they are being dueled against pics from a totally different sub section

Images from the same category even of different subcategories can be dueled.

A bit of a weird idea, why bother to pic a sub section, but oh well if thats how they work it.

Yes for example, in Animals Category, "Insects & Spiders" can duel with "Birds". Voting for the "better" image when encountering them in the duel is like comparing apples to oranges. And the "Birds" usually wins because many people don't have much affinity for "Insects & Spiders".

Except for butterflies of course, having a fighting chance against birds.

The sub categories are for awards. You may have the best dog pic and get number one for the week, despite twenty or thirty other animal pics bringing higher scores that yours. If not for the dog sub category you would have no award.

Same goes for landscapes and waterscapes. Some sub categories don't get enough pic submissions to dual only against their own types.

Hello Leone, since awards are assigned on Category level, all images within one category can duel each other regardless of subcategories.

I hope this helps.
