Mr. Jason Kiefer and the Pixoto Team: Can you do something or ban photographers who are using the Pixoto Community as a Billboard, photographers who are using Pixoto Community to attack other photographers and photographers who are not contributing photos here in Pixoto. Please check the profile of all the photographers in Pixoto Community, and if you don't see photos from them, please ban them. They are not helpful!

They are always here but you cannot see them contributing photos! And you even don't know if they have photos or they are just creating problems here.

Hello Ronnel, we encourage users to report problems (like duplicate or very similar images, wrong category, watermarked photos...), and posting in community is just one way of reporting such problems.

Thanks Jasenka, it's good to know that Pixoto appreciates the efforts of those who try to keep the playing field fair for everyone :-)

Some people only think of themselves, and some people care about others besides themselves. We each choose our own path in life. It's pretty simple.

Well, the way I look at it. Is this. I have a goal at the end of the year. I wanna be a photographer of the year better yet be number one. And the way to get that is to have good awards, high awards and the way I can get that is to stick to one category coz if I send pictures in other categories I will forfeit my goal. FOCUS is what I do have. An to you Lenore, "We each choose our own path in life. It's pretty simple." There you said it. I have chosen my category to master. Simple as that.

Yes, it is simple. You only care about one category and will do anything to achieve top status in it, with no interest in achieving excellence across the board. By your own words that's your choice, albeit a limited one, in my opinion.

But it's your choice to limit yourself and my opinion should mean nothing to you. Anyone who lets the opinions of strangers get under their skin should get off the internet.

But you don't care at all that there are many people whose photographs, in many categories, are not getting fair duels because of the rampant cheating. It's your choice, completely, not to care. What is curious is why you feel the need to interject yourself into the attempts of others who are trying to make Pixoto fair for everyone, even you. Every vote for a photograph in your desired category that is a duplicate is a vote your photograph might have gotten, and didn't. Every high honour you get could have been higher. Your desire to see #1 could be taken away from you by just the loss of those duels.

Why criticize people who do care about fairness for everyone and want to see every Pixoto user get legitimate duels no matter what category or categories they choose to pursue? Why does that bother you so much?

You have no idea how may times did I give way to those photos who I really admired as well. One time I was about to be given a number one award, I deleted it and resubmitted it the next day coz I really want to give the photo next to mine a proper award. You talk about being fair, what's more unfair than being attack all the time here in pixoto. Ever since I joined pixoto in like 3 or 4 years ago. Have I or Have we ever started attacking your photos? Lurking on your profiles. It has been like this. Attacking us all the time. Like I said I'm a goal oriented person. After I reach my goal I will focus on another goal. Like I said in another comment that, I used to be kind every time I log in here. But you know when you always hear words like cheating, cheaters...you're attitude changes. I react because I know I'm trying to play by the rules. Though sometimes I got some honest mistakes.Which I admit. Mistakes that are due to the amount of photos uploaded, sometimes it becomes really difficult to determine which is which. And now I'm happy coz my profile is already clean. Thanks for your job.

As Tim Nicholson said "they are not photographer"....yes it's true. They are just camera owners but they always win.....those photo forensics would always look for similar/duplicates coz their day would be incomplete if they can't report any images, likewise those camera owners who always submit the same subject day in and day out will never stop posting the same image.....so who are we going to blame here, the voters, the camera owners or the reporters? If you are addicted to something it's hard to quit unless you ask the help of the professionals.

No, we aren't pro photographers, we are doing this as a hobby and a group camaraderie. We are teachers here. And cheating is not in our curriculum. I'm done arguing, explaining things to the same people, million times. My photography skills will be more develop if I stay out of here. This site used to be helpful. But now it becomes a complaint desk. Like the ones in the police station. But like you said TL some people are just addicted to something and it's really difficult to quit. Just like these whiners. But I have a request though. I think it would be better if you guys just address it to a specific person rather than generalize lilies coz some people who are not involve are going to be affected as well.

You never answered my question.

I'm not against FAIRNESS, NO DOUBT. But the "PEOPLE" is what I'm doubtful about. Lack of attention. I'm against the whiners who couldn't let a day without becoming a busybody. Generalize the lilies instead of addressing it to a specific offender. Anyway, I'm gonna be busy editing my photos. Remember, I have a real goal than just get attention here. Wanna compete with me? I would love to. One more thing, could you watch out for duplicates in my profile. That would be a great job! Enjoy hunting.

As long as Pixoto insists that the site be policed by the members and not by the staff, you're going to have to learn to live with the "whiners". And I'm sorry Asher, but I don't go hunting for duplicates, although I will certainly report them if I see them. They're not really my thing and others do it very well, better than I ever could. And I've never looked at your profile so I'm afraid you'll have to find someone else to assist you with that difficult task.

"We would consider these images "very similar". The reasons:
- same subject
- same clothing
- same facial expression
- same lighting

really the only thing that is significantly different is the camera position - which isn't enough. "

Jason Kiefer (Official Rep) 1 year ago
"Wow. Some fantastic discussion here.

The new policy is considerably more broad. Images truly have to be unique and different. The same subject repeated many times is fine - as long as the setting and/or pose and/or expression are significantly different and unique. "

Jason Kiefer (Official Rep) 1 year ago
" If we let these two stand then there are probably 10 other slightly different, but all wonderful, images that the photographer can submit of the same scene. This will end up with all 10 of them near the top of the leaderboard and on the top of the players profile page. That, I think, would not be good for anybody."

Still wondering why Pixoto bothers have rules tbh................

Thanks for taking the trouble to search out Jason's posts Dawn..I'm not at home this week, and didn't have the time (or the inclination) to do it myself. Perhaps Jason would care to comment ? I seem to remember some months ago the Pixoto management suggesting that perhaps the time had come to have a completely separate category for 'overused' subjects, but I don't recall seeing any follow-up!

At least we only have FIVE lily pictures in today's top 100 - so perhaps the message is getting across!
