Ok, so Pixoto won't do anything about "Very Similar Images" but what about people with two accounts putting on identical images.

This guy http://www.pixoto.com/seanmarklovie who goes under the name of Mark Anthony Bansag, is surely the same guy as http://www.pixoto.com/charlie777.

Please Pixoto sort this out because it's just not fair to other Pixoto members!!

The only reason I can think of that a business would overlook it is if they were making a lot of money on these accounts. When I look at the images, regardless of the quality - I can't imagine that people are buying them in great numbers for the wall, pillows, phone cases, blankets, or whatever else the company produces. Just doesn't make sense to me. There's more to the story somewhere.

I have thought that too. Perhaps they are buying download credits regularly instead of voting, mind you if Pixoto are then paying out cash prizes to these members then there is not much net gain.

Michael and Jan: As this story keeps unraveling, I am amazed at the issues I never even thought of. How complex can this be? I've just read Lenore and Jack Brian's posts and the water gets deeper and murkier. I think there's a novel here! LOL!

I asked about this over a year ago ....they are apparently relatives and go shooting together. That's what Charlie says :-)
("Hey Lenore those photos were taken in the same day, and mark is my relative we took those photos together.")
http://community.pixoto.com/pixoto/to...

Edited to add: As much as I think this is not quite right, the explanation that they go shooting together is not an impossibility. I have a couple of friends I go shooting with on occasion and one even has the exact same camera as me. Neither are Pixoto members, however. I would not want Pixoto to outright ban somebody without hard proof. That wouldn't be right either. Things that seem "off" often are indeed off, but there has to be more than suspicion and gut feelings. Until Charlie's explanation can be disproved, I'm betting Pixoto won't take action.

you're right. Pixoto NEVER goes against their top winners. although i am beginning to question how some of these 'top winners' get their positions.

I rarely put anything on anymore. As far as I'm concerned, the duels are far from legitimate. When one of the top winners has an image in a category that I've entered something into, my image is very often paused!! I end up deleting it. Very strangely though, if I submit it again when the top winners haven't entered anything, I get really high scores. It's all a bit iffy!!

if the duels were accurate then a lot of these crap photos wouldn't score like they do!

Charlie and Mark are 2 separate people, you only need to check their Facebook profiles. Yes they do go out and shoot together and yes they do shoot the same subjects and yes they do bore the pants off me with the same type of images again and again, however they produce winning images time and time again. They do this on Pixoto but do not achieve the same recognition on other sites....why?? I would put this down to the geographic profile of voters that are on Pixoto.

The biggest problem is with Mark Anthony Bansag deleting winning images that have won monetary awards in 2013 and 2014, then resubmitting those images in 2015. Its is not against Pixoto rules, however if other photographers did this site would become even more repetitive and boring than it is at present. Go ahead and look at his winning photographer of the year banners for 2013 and 2014. He has no winning images...why because they have been deleted for submission in 2015.

This was brought up last year and again by Rey Garces on a post a few weeks back....still no answer from Pixoto.

Jan...The problem lies with Pixoto, they need to remove the weekly monetary prize. If every user started resubmitted their top 5% images in order to achieve monetary gain by winning the weekly prize money then the site would become even more stale and repetitive than it is at present.

I cannot blame Pixoto totally for the repetitive nature of the images, that lies solely with people that submit the images and those that vote for them.

I have seen that the Delete/ReSubmit buttons get greyed out of your images are above the 10% mark. When you hover over the Delete/Resubmit button you get a popup suggesting that you should send an email to the moderators.

Still, I see lot of photographers delete and resubmit their Top 1% and Top 5% images. How do they do it? What is the secret key? Do you need to be a paid member?

Hello Prakash, if user wants to resubmit or delete image that won 5% or better award he/she need to send request to report@pixoto.com

I hope this helps.

i see that we need permission to delete our own photos, yet Pixoto deletes and recategorizes as they see fit? that's just rich.

Yep, they are our images so they have no right to stop us from deleting them. I've had a few of mine recategorised. They actually did me a favour though because one only reached 542, but in the new category it's reached 722!!

Lenore, I'm beginning to report these images but to no avail. Pixoto gives the IDENTICAL reply that they can't see anything. I'm realizing now that since I have so little in my portfolio it's easier for them to peruse mine, virtually impossible to look through those with 1000. I think the only way to beat them is to join them! Play them at their own game!!

Me, myself, yours truly and I are planning to take a lot of photos this summer. We also plan to create our own facebook accounts and link them to pixoto. Our cameras are exactly the same. We will take some shots of the same subjects we like, at almost the same time. Our camera settings may also be similar as we discuss the settings before we take a shot. The GPS location will also read the same as we are at the same place. So please don't get frustrated if our images look similar or even same. You know we took the photos at the same time.

I see the bridge every day when I vote and every day in the top 10 (sometimes more than one entry in the top ten each day) It's like an old friend now. My day wouldn't be complete without a different angled view or altered color vision of that bridge.

The bridge and the flowers go hand in hand for these 3 guys. There must be nothing else to take pictures of around where they live.
