Number of images in each category in contest...

It has been asked several time in the past. Please, provide the number of images in your contest lists (today, yesterday, this week, etc.) for each category/subcategory. It is frustrating to have to slowly scroll and screen refresh through hundreds and thousands of photos to see how many photos there are (and yours competes against).

This is not at all a hard feature to add.

I've scrolled for well over 3 minutes to reach the end of the landscape and nature list from last weeks submissions (week of May 27, 2012)

http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...

to find that there were over 6,060 photos in competition the week. Why doesn't Pixoto just give the number upfront, something to the effect:

In category for contest period the number of contestants is .

Pixoto this is an extremely simple number to provide and at the same time very helpful and time-saving time. With a little extra help, you may even add...

At this time, the

> 20% award level is at rank with ImageScore:
> 10% award level is at rank with ImageScore:
> 5% award level is at rank with ImageScore:

you're right, this scrolling down takes too much time and there are more and more pictures every month. We had the total amount of pictures at the beginning so I guess it must be possible to get it back. I like also your idea of including the awards level

Thanks, Michelle. I've been asking the above in various forms for quite some time. Some of these are I know it's not that easy to implement. However, the total number of photos is very easy, and I hope I finally see something happening!

By the way something was removed from above that needs to read:

> 20% award level is at rank "abc" with ImageScore: xyz"
> 10% award level is at rank "abc" with ImageScore: "xyz"
> 5% award level is at rank "abc" with ImageScore: "xyz"

Take care. CB

For the weekly challenges you can go to
http://www.pixoto.com/tags

and find the tag for that week's challenge and they have the number of entries there. (eg number of entries that have pwcsummer tags :pwcsummer-957)

Yes, there needs to be the total number of images for that week/month/year (filter) counter on the top of the page.

Thanks Dipali. I'm very well aware of the numbers associated with a tag. I am not interested in that number at all as they do not relate to a daily, weekly, or monthly award. My photos compete in a category/subcategory no matter if they are associated with a category or not.

Total number of images submitted for each Category and for each Subcategory will be very useful.

Total award winners per sub / category would also be useful.

Total number of duels per day / week / month / date range.

Possibly even how prolific the winners' creators are: "Alice has won this week in the Travel / Street subcategory. She has submitted 1 image." Compare this to "Bob has submitted 3,000 images".

Even a little bit of graphing might be fun: trends week on week for submissions (increase of Beaches in May, decrease of Forests in December etc).

Enough for now.

I think it would be nice to have an overall rank as well on our weekly emails. I love the category and location breakdown I recieve but always end up having to go see where I stand overall. -- Matt

Pixoto have you seen this thread at all!!!

How hard is it to add the number of images in a day/week/month contest in each category/subcategory? Additional thinks like photo ranking may be a couple of lines of code more difficult, but just posting the number of competing photos is already part of the information that your databases provide when return the contesting photos. Please, please, please add this number.

This could be very nice, really. We had it at the beginning already on the first page. It said 48 of, for example, 2732 pictures. No scrolling down which takes sometimes over an hour to the weekly or monthly amount of photos. Could we please have it back as it was?

Hello, Pixoto?!

These are useful tools which you could provide for your users - it will let us see which categories are becoming more popular, help people save scrolling (and making calls on your servers) by seeing the number of images right up front, too.

Thanks for all the ideas. I've made a note of your feature requests and will bring it up to the rest of the team.

I'd like it if there would always be an icon or something on every image's detail page to indicate whether the image is in the top 20% of its category or not. If not, it would be nice at least to have the total amount of images for every category displayed when viewing the category's leaderboard.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
"Are you in top 20%?".

So that would be like an image carrying its own set of medals... nice idea. It would show us how popular an image (as opposed to its creator) has been.

the fact you haven't done anything about this makes it look like your trying to hide the information. Enough stalling. By law- when prizes are awarded based on number of entries submitted- the total number of entries is required to be displayed for public viewing at the conclusion of each contest period. Look it up. Making it difficult to see what the totals are is not permitted.

Thank you for complying with the law.

I believe this is very important, as I have won 5 best of the Week #1 and I keep sending the claims without any payment, and then finally was clarified by Pixoto that my pictures are not sufficient to receive the cash prize due to the total submission does not even reach the minimum of that specific category and I felt so disappointed!

The information about the total submission per week must be informed at least to the winner #1 whether he/she eligible for cash prize for the winning picture or not, so it will at least reduce further disappointment.

But I like the idea of Janna Morrison, that this information shall be available for public, so some photographer who really want to compete for the cash prize will send the photos in proper category for duel..

This excellent suggestion has been "under consideration" for 9 months. Would be wonderful to see some of these ideas actually instituted. We keep getting thanked for "trying to make Pixoto a better photographic community" with our suggestions, but the "UC" train never seems to stop at the "Implementation" station.

Hi John, a number of Player suggestions have been implemented since I have been here, the most recent being the changes to the submission page that state some of the rules. I believe that was Janna's suggestion.

Some of the other ideas may be implemented once the site bugs are worked out and we get some of the other issues taken care of like quickly acting on Reports.
