This is an example of how the Novice category fails. This photographer has 300 awards because he never enters any where else but Novice. That surely is making a total mockery of the category. Its meant for learners but some just use it because it's an easy place to get awards.

And another, 105 awards

I thinks its time to either get rid of this category totally, after all its not any help to the novices, or crack down and have a limit of awards that can be won before they have to move up. And I suggest a small amount, no more than 10.

I agree, looking at the top rated images, and the first page consists of mostly images I would deem far from novice standard. And the real "novice" entries are not even in the running.

Excellent catch Terry.. very intelligently used by the photographer ..looks like there is a bug in pixoto system that it is being allowed to post even after winning the day 1 awards.

looks like pixoto team does not novice awards for removing the novice category for the user

Ravi, as long as user doesn't win 5% or better award outside Novice category, Digital Art category or Mobile category, user can post in Novice category.

Yes, and that's the problem, some never try to post any where else, why should they, they keep getting best of the day in novice and it is wrong.

Completely agree limit it to 10 awards or until they get a top 10 place and then move on to the main categories give the real novice and beginners a fair chance

I agree with you. I just looked at those peoples photos and they are really good. They are not novices. I am a novice but I prefer to submit my photos in the regular section. It's much more satisfactory when I actually win an award. I'm no where near as good as pretty much every person on here so when I do get an award it means more to me.
