there is no way that such editing can be policed. they can't and won't police any editing as it is now. it is a dead subject

sorry it was a suggestion for a selection as in not photoshopped but slight editing

I like both types but sometimes some can't compete with the effects

And doesn't photoshopping ruin the whole concept??
I think that t here should be a category added for photos that have been photoshopped. I prefer to take a picture as I see it. Naturally. Not edit it to be sorry, but fake? To me defeats the purpose.

Hl April, To each his own is how it should be....But to me pics that are straight from a digital camera have grayed out colors and lowered contrast. They don't look real because your camera's light meter tries to make everything 18% more gray than your scene actually looks in real life. (If you are not familiar with the "18% grey card effect" you can Google it.

The only way you can retrieve the lost color and contrast that your camera averages away without blasting out your highlights is to use an editing program and post process your images. All cameras do this...But you don't need to buy Photoshop, several editing programs capable of fixing the color and contrast are free to download, and they are easy to learn and use.

The best reason for editing or photoshoping your images is to make them look more real then your camera can. A properly photoshopped or edited pic cannot be distinguished from the real scene...Most folks over edit their pics and that gives skilled photo editors a bad name.
