i think there shouldnt be any more ties as an option in image duels because it can reduce score and image ranking even though it isnt negative. You could even replace it with a skip button, but the best would be no tie button on image duel at all in my opinion, thanks.

We have talked about removing ties, but have not settled on a decision at this time. In place of ties, we are considering a skip button.

Anyone who is interested in this change can comment here and vote on the idea. We'll go from there.

Thanks!

I use tie all the time. Wouldn't want it removed.

What does "tie" really mean? Does it denote that both images are not great? Does it mean that both images are great but equal? How should the photographer evaluate a "tie" vote? It really doesn't give us useful information about our images the way it is used at this time.

It means both! It means they are of the same quality, they can be excellent and you cannot decide which one is better or they can be crap and you cannot decide which one is worst. I don't see why do you see tie as a problem?

I vote a 'skip' button...for instance, when there are 2 photos in the ImageDual that are obviously from the same photographer, obviously of the same subject, and obviously the same quality, it should be a tie...but if not tie then I vote for 'skip'.

Thanks for listening =)

A form of "tie" or "skip" should definately remain. Sometimes there is no strong image between the two selections. If some feel a name change is needed, "skip" would be fine.

We're still considering the possibilities of tie vs. skip. Naturally, a skip would not impact the ImageScore of either image whereas a tie does.

I don't know that we are going to make a change to the tie logic just yet. Please keep your thoughts and ideas on this topic coming. The discussion is helpful for us.

Thanks!

I use tie when two images are of a same quality (crap or great it doesn't matter). I don't see a problem if you have many ties. If you have ties with great images it improves the image ranking. If you have ties with crap images it lowers your image ranking. That is fair. If you just add skip button and the new image is comparable in quality with a older established photo, you will not get any points and will not be measured in any way, and likewise, crap images will not be penalized.

I, through no fault of my own, have no interest, experience or opinions about wedding photographs. And several other categories. It is a disservice to the photographer to trap me into voting win, lose or tie. Give us a SKIP!!!

I agree with the point about not caring about other people's weddings. I probably don't even want to see most friends' professional wedding photos. I certainly don't want to be evaluating photos of bridesmaids' corsages and flower girls (over and over).

I know I have friends who wouldn't want to see sports photos either. Not all categories appeal to everyone....and some categories put some people off.

This underscores the need to allow players to opt out of viewing certain categories in ImageDuel.

I have no problem with judging two photos from the same photog; my problem is having to choose between two "not-so-good" images. I vote for a "skip" button.

I think both of them are useful . I can press tie button in some cases and skip in other cases.

Hey Everyone!

We are planning to remove Tie from ImageDuels and replacing it with a Skip button. Skip will not record any results for the ImageDuel and will not impact the ImageScore of either image.

A little further down the road, we are planning to add an option that allows you to indicate you don't think either image in the ImageDuel is that great. This will be a feature reserved for users we trust based on their history of ImageDuels.

We'll keep you posted.

Thanks!
