new category - night photography - it would be nice if there was a category called night photography where you can put images of cities at night, fireworks, light painting, astral photography, moon, etc... - right now, I really do not know how to select the right catergory for fireworks images for instance.

I think also "Sunset" and "Sunrise" should deserve a dedicated category.

I'm with you. What do you think about a "macro" category???
Jason, I hope we don't stress you too much.

I agree, here. Night photography deserves it's own category. I also submitted the idea to have a category for "Skies", to take care of all those sky shots that end up in Landscape and Nature, making the category absolutely huge and and with images submitted into categories where they don't really belong. I almost will NOT vote for an image that is placed in the obviously wrong category. I find that I'm trying to avoid submitting in that category for those reasons. Also to try to help out here, I saw someone suggested a separate category for "Flowers", and I agree that is a very good idea, also.

I would love a separate night photography section. that would be awesome.
and... thanks for adding the musician category under portraits but I think that should get its own category. and it could be musicians with subcategories of - Live - Studio - Portraits -
I've been finding that the coolest music shot will not stay in the running if it goes up against too many pictures of babies...and just snapshots of babies, not quality shots.

Agreed. An night/ low light section is needed. And, about the musicians vs. babies, there are a lot of categories that seem to work as you mention; The quality of the photo is secondary to how sympathetic the subject of the photo is.

I have to agree with Marjorie. Which, unfortunately doesn't say much for some of the folks out there voting!!!!!
I have a nice image of a zebra stallion in the wild which lost to a SNAPSHOT of a squirrel in someone's backyard where it is obviously fed often, and no work done on this snapshot to try to improve it........so someone out there said "awwwwww...how cute!" instead of "which of these images is better? (i.e., sharper, better composition, light, contrast, how difficult was it to get, etc.,?). Well, there's no accounting for taste, I suppose, and at some point someone will feel the same about one of mine.
I concur for a dedicated category for Children, Flowers, and Skies.
Thank you, Sandi Bosley

I just suggested also a macro category. Oh God, we will end with so many categories but you're all right. Sometimes we really don't know in which category to upload our pics. Anyway, it's very nice that we can participate and come up with ideas, this community will be the best on the net.
Wish you all a nice and a nice shooting. Here in Thailand, it's raining and raining, which is great to take pictures but not for the cameras

I agree. I suck at it, but an astral photography category is needed.

It all seems good to me. I just joined 10 minutes ago and am finding my way about the site so don't have any suggestions, complaints, recemmendations yet but I do commend the way the site works so that it can evolve thru the participations of those that use the site. I look forward to a long and positive participation.

Citrus, there is an astral sub-category, you're right but no night category as Rachel (and other people) suggested. It really could be nice.

I totally agree with this. As it stands....fireworks & light painting are dueling against macros, water droplets etc. Two completly different forms of photography.
