New rule needed for challenges please!!

I am very upset over Sandy Scott!!! Not only does he create challenges, but overloads them with his own images...AND THEN WINS ALL THE AWARDS...or at least 90% of them. Come on....I think if you create a challenge you should only be allowed one of your own in it....as per what I did with the challenge I created. This guy is very unfair...either ban him for misusing Pixoto...as he has all kinds of awards from doing what he does....or create a new rule about this....

Oh, so you have discovered the infamous self-adoring Sandy Scott? It's not the first time someone complains about him...hopefully Pixoto will finally kick his ass and teach him to respect the rules and to show a minimum of decency.

Hello Sue, if moderator doesn't limit entries per photographer, and if moderator chooses that voters will decide on Judge's award the moderator can enter as many images as he/she likes.

Thank you for suggestion to change the rules for challenges.

I dont think that is what is happening here. I created a challenge last night and to my surprise a moderator can decide winners. Why are moderators even allowed to choose winners. That should change quickly. There is no credibility in a challenge set up this way. Please change that. Thank You

The moderator can decide winners only if they don't enter. If they enter it has to be by votes, but as we already know some misuse this blatantly.

Its unfair morally to do these but unless Pixoto cracks down and takes ownership and changes the rules what this guy is doing is not against the rules. As Cailin says he loves to win awards and boast about them. And an easy way is to start a challenge and drown it in his shots guaranteeing yet more awards.
Its time to do something about the challenges, it is getting seriously out of hand.

Wow i just checked the Osprey challenge and its full of his pics. Im new to this site and Im really surprised moderators are even allowed to post photos in their own challenges. This is something Pixoto should change and quickly. I like this site and I would like it to stay credible but that cant happen with things like this. I have photos posted in his Great Blue Heron challenge and I will be watching this closely and if I dont like what I see may not be here very much longer. I want to be part of a legitimate site

well...maybe in the mean time....all of us decide to not enter any of his challenges...I do believe in the rules you can not vote on your own image..therefore if no one else enters his challenge...it would be basically void would it not?

Sadly there will always be some entering his challenges, frankly Pixoto needs to step in on these.

Something else I have just noticed here that I think can help this situation. There should be a limit on the amount of time a challenge be left open for submissions. Check out the link below and you might agree this will help. Maybe a challenge should be open for a minimum of 2 weeks to allow more members to enter. I have just noticed Sandy Scott has two challenges that are open for only 3 days which will minimize the amount of entries getting into the challenge and making it easier for him to win awards. A 2 week minimum could help.

I shall make a point of avoiding his contests. Pixoto could help by changing the defaults, make the default time for submission longer, and the default Votes decides the winner.
I have only posted 1 contest, and could choose the winner, most votes went to one of my own photos, so I made an other photo 'The Judges choice'.
I can see if you have a great photo, you'd like to create a challenge for it, but hopefully to get a fair contest.
I find we have an other new moderator who post lots of contests, but only let them run for a few days.

Another related issue.. There is one moderator who has surfaced recently with so many contests at a time.. Winner will be decided by her only.. The topic would be quite peculiar so that only few images would qualify.. And she has a set of winners and she will not enter any images.. The irony is that the winning images could be quite low ranked in the contest.. As an example see the links below simultaneously..
http://www.pixoto.com/challenges/tree... and
http://www.pixoto.com/challenges/tree......

And if it was for one or two challenges we could have ignored it.. But she is doing it for all challenges and the game is still going on.. Already have more than ten closed challenges and still more are going on... The agenda is quite suspicious !!

I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT NO MODERATOR SHALL BE ALLOWED TO DECIDE THE WINNERS. AND ALSO NO IMAGE SUBMITTED BY THE MODERATOR SHALL BE CONSIDERED FOR THE NO.1 TO NO.10 POSITIONS EVEN HIS/HER IMAGES ARE THE ONLY ONE ENTERED !!

Happy to hear suggestions !

yeah Woodstock.. And she is deliberate in choosing subjects to make there won't be too many entries.. And she maintains a regular coterie to put in entries.. There was one hilarious comment by one of our members in a challenge that was closed today.. "Spiders under 200" ... I too had one entry as I was resubmitting one of my older entries for a different purpose !

Also - why is a moderator with a score of 70 allowed to moderate? Surely Pixoto should step in and block this????? People are wasting credits/money here on unmoderated moderators who quite frankly do a c*** job. Maybe Pixoto should have a message clearly pinned as to what the moderator rating means? How is someone supposed to know?

Let's not forget - Pixoto doesn't give a rats if the moderators do a rubbish job. If fact they continue to reward them (as they do with cheaters)

As I've said before "Welcome to Pixoto - where every day is ground-hog day" ........

haha ! But Woodstock, a moderator has to manage more and more challenges to increase the rating.. The only idea for a rating is a feedback from the participants.. Team Pixoto is sooo lean to monitor these minor things..

Here, the issue is that many are loosing their hard earned credit points.. If it was in a civilized country with law, these moderators would have been under arrest for scams.. But Pixoto is a different country altogether !!!

not to sound kind of dumb here...but what does the moderator rating mean? I have one challenge going on that is in the voting stages right now...Canadian Cities and Landmarks...reason being...I see tones of images from other countries, but seldom from my own.
Also..I only have one image in my challenge and it's somewhere near the middle of the pack..
If I were to open another challenge for images under 300...it would be for people like me that have lower image scores most of the time. Give someone else a chance instead of being over run by people like that who either cheat or have to play a dirty game to get points and higher scores.

I feel there is a typical 'Pixotian way' of doing things here.. I'm seeing quite no. of 700 plus and 800 plus images that are comparable to the entries by our members (not me..mine are still amateurish)) who are still hovering about 500 points.. In entering a new image, getting higher marks, to repeat the success pattern of others, choosing the 'right' category, the nature of images and even the time to enter !! (It very well seems that it is quite critical, but I'm still couldn't locate it in GST !!)

In challenges, you just enter and flow with the tide.. And if you are moderating, pick a subject that is toooo focused that even 10 images entered would be a luxury and make sure more than 50% is urs or ur 'friends' ! Then you would be a success story .. lol :-)
