Moderation of Pixoto sponsored contests

Would it be possible to finally get clear rules for how Pixoto sponsored contests are modified? Until now, in almost every single contest images go into the dueling stage BEFORE a proper modification is done, that is disqualification of images that are against the rules for the contest. If the contest goes into the voting stage on an inconvenient time for the moderator in the USA, then choose a convenient time for you to announce the contests. If the moderator then for some reason hasn't been able to disqualify all non-belonging images in time, then postpone the beginning of the dueling with a day or two. If this isn't possible technically today, then change the code so that it is. The current modification process is just not working. What happens now is that dueling starts including images that should have been disqualified. When these contest are built so that every image meets another image only once or at least very few times in the beginning, it's obvious that images that could have gone further miss their opportunity if they loose to images that don't belong in the contest. This is far from fair to all members that submit images that obey the rules.

I think this is a reasonable idea. You are correct, it seems silly to start voting on images that will just be disqualified. Perhaps the moderator should be involved in allowing the voting phase to commence.

A compromise might be that a moderator is given X amount of time to review the images to begin voting. If the moderator has not reviewed and release the challenge, it will still commence, but the moderator's rating will be lowered. Moderators with a rating lower than Y will be limited in the number of challenges they can create moving forward. What are your thoughts?

I will leave this open for discussion from other members. Once we come to agreement on how it should work, we can get it released.

To clarify my input, I was specifically talking about Pixoto Promoted Photo contests (Sponsored by Pixoto), the ones where you can win "One Year Pixoto Pro Membership". In these contests the moderator is a Pixoto Representative, so there is no moderator rating. Pixoto sponsored contests should though be examplary moderated and never go into the dueling stage before proper disqualification is done. Therfore I think it's a good idea that the moderator should be involved in allowing the voting phase to commence after all disqualifications are done.

You don't like the idea of a pre-moderation phase on all contests?

Sure, all contests should be pre-moderated! Sorry about the delayed answer.

In addition to what's being said earlier I suggest contest entries should be moderated all through the submission time. Members namely check out earlier submissions and many times submit images that reminds of them and at the same time forget the rules. This leads to more and more entries that doesn’t meet the description.

Pixoto presented Community Contest "Mischievous Pets" just went into the voting stage. Although I've pointed out time after time that the moderation, meaning all disqualification has to be done BEFORE the dueling starts there are still images in the contest that doesn't follow the description (30.12.2018, 11:28 am.).

In the description it says:

We want to see your photos of pets behaving badly.
- This is a domestic animal contest
- No wild animals
- No zoo animals
- Theme must be apparent

In a nutshell - the bad behavior of the pets has to be apparent in the images. For now it isn't the case in all of the dueling images. A normally running or playing dog doesn't for example meet the description. Same goes for pets that just look into the camera without any real evidence or expression that they have been bad.

Hi Mia, I've asked that contest entries are re-checked and disqualified as needed.

Sometimes it's hard to disqualify last minute entries before comp is finished and some are just random additions or some might have been previously missed. Maybe there should be a day grace period from a contest finishing to voting so disqualifications can be carried out.

Mel, I think this is a good solution! Scott suggested something like this also earlier in this thread.

I must have missed pass skimming through lol.

I think moderator ratings are over rated. Mine usually says N/A anyway.

I'm disappointed to see that once again a Pixoto sponsored contest has gone into the voting stage before proper moderation has been done. In the Contest "RED OBJECTS" there are many images dueling that are against the description. Will this matter ever be resolved? Three months ago Scott suggested that the moderator should be involved in allowing the voting phase to commence, that is after the moderation is done. Is this really a big thing to get corrected?
