Is it not possible to disconnect pixoto from instagram? I don't use instagram and I don't take pics with a mobile, so I'm not sure about this but I think instagram goes where it is accepted.

I think it is the default setting so I think many folks don't know how to turn it off. Maybe Pixoto can put it in the FAQ page.

Sure they could but they don't want to. Their is to much money to made from having Instagram as part of the pixoto site. There are over 7 million instagram users. Thats a lot of eyeballs and potential customers. I personally feel it is a good business decision that will alienate some users like us but in the end it will make them a lot of money. And isn't money and power the basis for most business and political decisions made in the world today? Most users will not even care as long as they get recognition. Throw people a few awards and you have them by the short hairs. They will keep coming back for more because feelings of self worth and accomplishment are more powerful than any drug. I am not judging anyone just sharing my thoughts and observations. Have a nice day. :)

FYI - soon we will be making it required to add #Pixoto to the title of your instagram photo in order for it to be uploaded. We hope this will make photographers choose to only upload their best shots (it will also likely reduce instagram submissions by 90%+)

good idea, hope it works. How can you stop them entering shots not from a phone in the catergory.....that would be a big help too.

Great idea Jason. That will be a great help. As for entering shots that were taken on a DSLR People will soon realize they stand more to lose than to gain if they upload there pics via Instagram because then they can't win any cash prizes or sell them in the stock house.

With what they plan on doing with requiring #Pixoto before being uploaded it may actually resolve the issue to a point that it will no longer have a negative impact on the attitudes of other members like us. Jason estimate a 90% reduction in Instagrams submissions because of this. I can't wait. :)

aha I understand now. this instagram story is a money story. Sorry I didn't know that. On the other side it spoils pixoto. The real mobile-instagram pictures are awful. It looks like it destroys the quality of the pictures. It's a shame because with a good mobile like for example Iphone they shot really nice pictures. Like you said Andrew, the money seems to be the most important in life. Sad but true. But I understand also that pixoto needs this money to run this site and to pay the staff. I'm happy i don't use it. I would never want to show pictures like this

Michelle, just remember what I said is my own opinion and not a fact. It is what I would do if I owned the company. Being a business man I do not begrudge anyone that wants to make money. Jason has come up with a great suggestion above which will benefit both the current members, the mobile users that are really interested in being creative rather than just uploading every picture they take and also Pixoto will benefit because the quality of the photo base will increase. I believe the team is getting more member centric so to speak and may start focusing on making Pixoto a more pleasurable and informative center for quality images. I look forward to also seeing the usability factor improve when they add to the navigation ability of the site and all its information. Stay tuned......

yes I understand, Andrew. And I also understand pixoto that they need to make money. They cannot do all this work for free, this is impossible. I just didn't know that instagram brings money in and I didn't think about this. I'm the opposite of a business woman, lol. I do lots of things for free just to help other people. It's already great that we have the option to be a free member and I appreciate this, otherwise I would have to quit

Once Pixoto implements the new process for Instagram this problem should be greatly reduced.

This is not fair: the photos that are not mobile like someone to take the points.Look at history, 3 times in a row, my crashes. Why not in the duel were different photos neg one and the same UNFAIR

This is inhuman, and fight with the same photograph of the fourth time in a row.

I'm not sure it is inhuman but it is annoying to be up against the same photo so many times in a row. Others have complained about this as well but we are told this is normal.
Wow, what phone did you use to take this picture?

It is a Sony Ericsson K770i and the photos are in JPEG format. A device leaves some sort of stain on the pictures at the top right hand corner and can not be cleaned. Because now that I have to take off the stain, or cutting, or Photoshop.

Oh not a pure photo then. Your phone software will be doing the post processing for you. That dust seems to have gone by the end of the series perhaps the lens was simply dirty

Can not find this series to buy a new phone. Not in terms of dust. Anyone who has seen photos of him remained impressed.

My opinion is to separate mobile photo to instagram.

Mobile images EXIF file is still there
Instagram images the DSLR pictures, we can save into iphone and do some tricks and send to instagram, EXIF file was remove because of the application :(

We need to get over the idea that exif data is absolute proof of what the picture was taken on.
I can take a picture taken on my DSLR and make it have the exif data of my iphone.

In view of the fact that it is not possible to police the mobile category I believe that it should be removed and if people feel that their mobile phone pictures are that good then they will do just fine in the main categories.

I agree. The mobile category is redundant (and confusing, since it's not subject-based). For the most part it seems like a place where (some) people are trying to grab easy awards for images that may not have won if placed into the other categories.

Personally, I skip it whenever it shows up in ImageDuel.

This no longer makes sense, here are the fraudsters themselves. Eliminate the category of Mobile-Instagram so these are good photographers may compete in other categories, so let's see how they will pass photos. I am disappointed!

I believe that all the photos you are reporting may have actually been taken with a smartphone. Just look at the photos at this link.

I may be wrong Johnny but from what I have seen on the net http://www.cultofmac.com/176684/how-t...
it can be done. And yes some of the photos taken with an iphone can look like a DSLR. Especially on a web page where the resolution is limited. I do see your point though.

I see in the new category descriptions that it is acceptable to do post processing of a mobile phone and then upload it so if someone took the time they could always use noise reduction and contrast control to make it look better. That could be the case here.
