IMO...all images submitted to mobile photos should require EXIF and all images without EXIF or taken from DSLR should be DQ.

yes thats ok for just mobile categories but its not that simple with instagram - instagram filter out the exif data by default before it is posted to pixoto so its not displayed anyway

You know, people can transfer their images from computer to their mobile phones and then post them using instagram. Their images score very well compared to all the dull images of instagram. This is cheating! Instagram does not publish exif info, do not know why.

Pixoto should review all the mobile photo that this user had upload, because almost are DSRL pictures, PIXOTO should take off all of them, and require EXIF

that's a little hard because when an image is edited in instagram, the exif is deleted by the app. so when they submit the pictures no exif data is presented and there is no way a photographer can edit the exif once they posted their pictures in mobile photo category.

Look at this picture. This is taken with an iphone and it has image info. I'm not sure if you have also image info with other mobile but it could be good to insert it, so we all know if it's taken with a mobile phone or with a camera. What do you think?

I had look all his mobile pictures all are awesome about reflection. And I try to do the best I can, but cannot get so sharp and clearly with any reflection.

I even favorited the above picture you mentioned because I believe it's an iphone shot based on the exif info. checking that photographer's other mobile picture he seems to be consistent with his camera tool.

It's great to know the exif info but unfortunately instagram app automatically deletes them. just a lot of "so-called" professional photographers shifted to instagram category because of higher points and great advantage

oh yeah, this is obvious. Non creative people have to cheat. Actually I feel very sorry for them, they will never become photographers, they will never learn something because they don't want to learn. The best would be NOT TO GIVE CASH PRIZES and they will automatically disappear from pixoto

ELIMINATE ALL THE CHEATERS!!!! They get good amount of points awards and some of them maybe cash prizes. It's not fair for the good, non cheating, members and gives a bad feeling all over the community. We all have the right to have fun and to improve our photographic skills.

Cheating has been around for as long as the human race. We will never be able to completely eliminate it from all competitions. All we can do is make it more difficult for people to do so. If the cheaters would use the time and skills they use to figure out ways to cheat to better their creative skills, they would not have to cheat. IMHO

I agree with the no EXIF suggestion. That should at least reduce the amount of cheaters uploading to the instagram and mobile phone categories.

Heres a question for you ?

I have taken photos on my phone, put them on my computer to do minimal touch up, not enough to make it photoshop catagory and put them back on my phone,

If i uploaded them to Pixoto to either instegram or mobile phone category i would not have broken any rules but they would be better images than normal !

I dont enter those categories but its something to consider. ?

I also do not feel that most of the folks here don't know how manipulate the EXIF data or to do what you are so kindly teaching people to do. You can't stop all cheating but you can make it harder. Not allowing anyone that doesn't have RAW capability will eliminate a large percentage of members so I don't feel that is the best way for me.

I agree entirely with you on that point, I just feel that those who are going to cheat will know how to do it already.

Andy I have removed the instructions that I listed. As you say helping people to cheat isn't a great move eh

I am sure you are correct on that Will. It's like when people use pirated software. The people that created and own the software try to make it hard for people to steal it and not pay but there will always be folks that feel justified in some way to be able to take something without paying for it. Even supposedly good honest folks like us. :) So all we can do is try our hardest to make it more difficult to cheat but also keep things fair. It is never an easy task and will keep people busy for a long time trying to outwit the people that try to work around the system.

I agree Andrew, but in that case i think it defeats the object of the catagory

Its a shame there is nothing to keep it "pure" for mobile and instagram categories or its just an extension of any other photography ?
