Hey pixoto, you might want to look at this persons photographs. She has violated your rule concerning "repetitive or similar" many times, and I do mean many times. She's been reported other times for the same thing. Please do something about it.

I do believe she is a flagrant abuser of your similar image rules. I do think you should provide her another warning and if the abuse continues then ban her for a number of months from the site. Then allow her to rejoin.

do u consider this "very similar"

I got an email saying that pixoto received a lot of complaints about these. the fact is they are different women jumping as evidence is shown on the number of people standing on the cliff. Although a very few of my pictures are very similar, I intentionally did it to know if other could notice it too.

every now and then pixoto has different definition for very similar images
http://community.pixoto.com/pixoto/to...
NO VERY SIMILAR IMAGES: You may submit an unlimited number of images but each one must be significantly different from the others. This means only one image of any subject and scene/pose combination is allowed (e.g. either b/w or color - not both).

and if my images were very similar how about this two? Ive reported them but ignored

quoted from jason "we would not consider the images in question to be "very similar" it's a close call but given the different position of both the fruit and the camera combined with different light and background we think they are distinct enough."

a close call for these images? close call means almost similar, right?

and if i didn't put this complaint here in this community these reports should have been forgotten. I reported each picture using the report button but after a week I found out the images were still there then I posted the report here and an action was made. http://community.pixoto.com/pixoto/to...

I know what you mean, reporting doesn't always work. If I see them again after I report them, then I post my complaint here. That seems to work most of the time.

I think one thing to remember when reporting a dup or similar photo or any violation is to put a link to the photo that it is a duplicate or similar to. I know many do this but I feel many just click that it is a duplicate and click submit so the report team would have no idea of what it is a duplicate of without searching through all of the pictures. Also what I do sometimes is send an email to report@pixoto.com with an explanation of why I feel their has been a violation of the rules. This is just a suggestion as I am sure most of us already do this.

I just viewed that girls portfolio- and wow. She doesn't even try to follow the rules- what rules right? However- she is 19. Social networking is her world. So I complained to her about what shes doing and, for the first time, I did have it post to face book. I suggest more people do the same for this girl. I believe it will be the most effective way to get her attention. Sometimes- you need to be told your doing something wrong to know your doing anything wrong- she may not even know. She needs it explained by more than just me.

She knows. I complained about her doing this before, and pixoto removed the photos. She's done it before and she'll do it again.

I don't think anybody is listening to our comments on duplicity/repetition. Its going on as usual. My concern raised a day back "How many duplicates you require to win" still remain unanswered and the guys are occupied the 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranking (at least last week and so I think for this week also) of "Building and Architectural" category. Most of the their pic are not only similar, but also altered (fake reflection etc), and they all have similar looking pictures (offcourse taken from different camera's) spanning there profiles.

This is what I wrote along with suggestion a days back

This is what I suggested the pixoto team

"One suggestion from my end to Jason, if you can detect two similar looking photographs using algorithms for image-deal, why can't you use the same algo while photo uploading for duplicity and warn the uploader during the time of uploading.

I tried some simple algo, related to pattern recognition, hue counts, Normalized cross-correlation etc. they are giving good result on many of the photographs. But I think you have more sophisticated algorithms then my simple ones. Please bring some innovation in this area, that's a request."

Sounav,
I would love to know more and have such an algorithm checker for scientific purposes. As well, I'd love to know which variations of my own images are best/most generally appealing. Also if you have some good links on the subject to share I/we thank you.

I have noticed some voting patterns based on color/gray scale gradient mapping on similarly lighted photos. I also realize that there are/can be many factors which affect choice.

I tried with Average Hashing algo using only the thumbnails. Please have a look at the output http://community.pixoto.com/pixoto/to....

Its very fast, though it generates some false positives. A better algo maybe a pHash (pHash.org -> for more details). Tinyeye uses a variant of pHash. There are more, I may forward you links as I encounter them.
