LIMIT TO PHOTO SUBMISSION EACH WEEK IN EACH CATEGORY

I suggest to limit photo submission to 10 in each category from each photographer. I've seen that some photographers submits 20-30 or even more in one category (example: instagram) thus making their points higher. In the end they climb up to the top ranking photographers in no time.

the numbers above may be over estimated.
So for now what I do is to submit more photos to to keep up with the rank.
but when the limitation rule is set, then I will limit my submissions.

I think it depends how many photos generally get submitted in a sub-category, e.g.flowers have many, motorcycles a lot less.

or beside of the players list showing the total points you could introduce a list showing the average points.
quality over quantity.

Why limit "good " photos at all ?

This is a competition, we are called players and there is a leader board that we can climb by submitting good photos, we even get a weekly ranking update.

So why do so many people complain that some are doing better than others ?

If there is a limit to the number of images submitted it wont make the leaders images or places worse and it wont make the lower ranked players achieve more ?

Why dont we try a simple method of helping the lower ranked players do better, lets have a "How Too" section where people can ask how an effect is achieved or how to take a particular type of photo. ?

Not all will answer to there own images but someone else might know !

Just my oppinion no green man or anger management needed ! just a calm collected oppinion !

the "how to" is a very good idea. I've seen this on other sites already. I could help many amateurs who would like to increase their skills.
On the other side it would be also very nice if everybody would upload their pictures in the right category. I call this fair play. If everybody is fair and respect the rules, we will have a nice community here.
Considering the rule about photoshopped pictures in the photoshop category and watching the fine art category today, with all these photoshopped smoke pictures, I also understand Jay's frustation. I don't feel he is complaining about "better" pictures but he also would like to have DSLR photos in their proper category and see in the mobile or instagram category only pictures which belong to these two categories.

In order for any site to work effectivly there needs to be fair play. yes images need to be catagorized properly ! but rules are made to be broken, (or at least bent a little) complaining how unfair it is is only stopping you achieve what you want.

Yes report them by all means but if more time was spent submitting good images everyone would stand a better chance of getting higher up the leader board

Once reported let Pixoto decide ! and it would also be good to let us know the boundries, like photoshop, i believe the rule is not a blanket ban across the board as some think but a list of what we are not allowed to use ? give us the same for duplicates etc.

right Michelle, I don't complain pictures that are better than mine. In fact, I favorited the ones which I think deserves the top spot in the category I joined. I also followed the photographers who do well and I like in the same category I joined.

here I have another suggestion, I think not everyone knows or have visited this page http://www.pixoto.com/photography-com... or even the community page. If pixoto sends these pages as a private infoemail I think everyone will be aware. (correct me if Im wrong because I can't remember if I was led to this pages after I signed up)

others just join and submit pictures without having visited the page. somehow, I can't blame everyone.

What I noticed is that I had two photos in the same category and it actually HURT me... the one photo had hit just over 700 and when I submitted a new photo the next day, they dueled against each other several times and it dropped the one photo back to 676 and though it helped the other photo..so it was bitter sweet.. up and down... I hoped at one point it would stop dueling against each other for it was not necessarily a win win situation...I am still new here, joined in late June and am still learning.. I read these Q and A here and have learned a lot of helpful info.

Good point JoAnn....If people upload bad photos people will vote for them just to get credits without thinking so you really are hurting your good photos by uploading thinking it will improve your ranking.....

Jeesh... 46 submissions by one photographer alone in Flowers yesterday. And it's not unusual for the person. Tedious and truly not in the spirit. A limit of submissions doesn't seem like a bad idea to me.

LOL! I'm glad i found this thread... as i was about to open one of the same proposition.. Coz i just started to rejoin pixoto for this week and tried submitting in nature up close/flowers and food and drinks category... but when i clicked the said categories to see where my photos are at... i thought i opened some togs account... LOL! i checked and rechecked i was on the right page but looking at it... i really thought it was his account... LOL! (http://www.pixoto.com/images-photogra...) coz almost all of the pictures belong to one Tog! LOL!

I hope there would be some limit set for a days submission. 5 photos for small categories like food and drinks and maybe 10 for bigger categories like nature up close or animals so on and so forth.

Cheers!

I agree about limiting the number of submissions per day in one category. It's gotten way out of hand, and for some togs, borders on the ridiculous! Would like to see Pixoto staff implement this limit rule for 2013!

yeah, more than 10 submissions per category per day is ridiculous. there is always the next day to submit other images.

Yes PLEASE!!! Personally I think 5 per subcategory is the absolute maximum per day.

For the Flower subcategory - between "gerbers", roses, lotuses and waterlilies - one hardly gets to see any other blooms as the copycats climb onto the floral bandwagon!

I see the usual suspects are loading up their pics "en masse" again...

I would actually agree with a daily limit....I was supporting the weekly limit, but since there are some that bombard a category daily with 20-40 .... maybe a daily limit is the way to go.

Tragically not only are they uploading en masse but are also loading duplicates - most usually recrops of the same photo, occasionally rotated/mirrored to disguise the fact. I love flowers, but if I want to see shop bought ones I can go to the nearest store...
