Is this in the correct category?

So how do you do this in one shot? And then is this correctly categorized? Is the subject the growth to the butterfly as the title suggests? Or is this digital? I don't see that the jars are the subject because clearly the tog is telling a story of metamorphosis.

You don't do this in one shot, its possibly several shots joined together as the leaves don't alter in any way.

It's a digital creation -- the dirt, leaves, etc are identical. The highlights on the jars are identical. The "metamorphosis" elements have been added to each jar, which would each be on a separate layer in photoshop -- one with the jar centered, one to the left and one to the right. Then the layers are flattened, if any seams are showing they are smoothed out, then saved as the one image. It's lovely, but it belongs in Digital Art :-)

This also should be in Digital Art, in my opinion:

Jasenka tells me this one is possible on a slanted surface (I've tried before to get that one recategorized -- didn't work). Although, if you go by the rules, anything that doesn't look real needs to be digital!

Well, that explanation doesn't wash with me :-) (Sorry, Jasenka!)

If that were the case, the shadows and highlights for each one would differ, maybe just a little, but they would differ -- and that is not the case. It's one glass -- and that could very well be on a slanted surface. It's then duplicated twice and each image is recoloured. Then straightened. Then all merged into one layer. All in all, it's a very easy photoshop project :-)

It may well be digital and yes we all know how to do it but to a lay man looking in it looks real enough ? and that's all that's needed after all the site is not trying to sell images to other photographers are they ?

We can pick loads of images apart if we choose or we can just accept that the translation of the rules that Pixoto choose to enforce isn't quite as tight as you might like !

After, the photo you linked should be in Digital art category. I will ask report team to recategorize it.

Lenore, same is the case with the photo you have posted. I will ask for it to be recategorized also.

If you recategorize that image you are going to open a floodgate of moans about dozens of images that could just as easily be recategorized but common sense says leave them where they are !

Just where are you going to draw the line ?
