A few days ago, I had my paraying mantis in the fine art category and it was moved to the wildlife category. No problem with this
Yesterday they were 4 wildlife in the fine art category and today already 10 (which one of them is a duplicate, one in colour and the other one sepia). And tomorrow they will be more. I feel frustated. It could be good if the rules are for everybody.

I thought the rules allowed for one color and one monotone of images under the rules when I began?

We need the NEW rules/guidelines written somewhere so that we can follow them.

Seems to me that every time someone questions misplaced or moved images there is a hoohar about having clearly defined rules and a clear set of guidelines to include category definitions, then it all goes quiet again till someone else feels hard done by.
yes, common sense suggests where we put our images but we all make mistakes (more so here on pixoto as there is no category definitions that i can see)

here is a link to a conversation started 4 months ago, in which the suggestion of category structure and content leads to a set of category changes being announced (which we are all still waiting patiently for) but again no help understanding what the category title actually means or what images it may encompass.

http://community.pixoto.com/pixoto/to...

Surely it cannot be that difficult to have a few bullet points on what is seen as being fitting and correct subject matter for each category - we could all help.

Btw, Michelle, I dont think pixoto should have moved your praying mantis from fine art, it looks a great shot, worthy of a frame and hanging space in any home

Thanks David, now I know some people do actually read posts on here. I hope you decide to start submitting images again, as soon as the "resubmit" button starts working again, you are good at what you do :)

yes i do, michelle, and ever since we have met here, it has been a pleasure to see you again. :-)

today is the first time since i started last week of march to submit here, that i haven't posted any pics because of the "resubmit"-issue and one more bug that obviously only seems to plague me.

thanks, michelle, for the nice remark. :-)

They started the new rules for duplicates on June 1st. Unfortunately Pixoto does not make this info easily available to the members without a lot of searching unless you follow the forums every day. Even then you need to search the threads. And most members don't follow the forums. So any members that dont read the forums will continue to break the unpublished guidelines. I too am getting frustrated by the fact that they have no real guidelines set up for us to follow. They always say that it is a great idea to expand the FAQ and make the info easier to find but so far there has been no apparent action taken that we as members can see and use. Out of all the talk about what makes up a category there is still no posted guidelines to follow. It's like waiting for new software that never happens. There are no time frames for any of the things that they have said is going to happen. next month?, next year?, 2 years? We need a little communication from the team to help keep the peace. Give us hope that these issues are being worked on and a time frame for the future. All I ask is a page that gives us all guidelines to follow so we don't feel lost and confused. Maybe assign moderators to find the violators and refer them to the team that will make the final decision if it is not obvious. Fine art is totally subjective and you should let the voters decide by their votes. Duplicates is a separate issue and if we just have the guidelines we will have less issues with photoshopped and wildlife and mobile and etc...... Any way I am starting to ramble. The Pixoto team is working hard and trying to keep up with a flood of new pictures making it hard to keep up but then they need to figure out a solution. I am usually very positive about things but this is getting very frustrating. Ok, thats all for now. Everyone have a nice day and try to stay positive.

Matthew, this was "when you began" but, as Andrew just mentioned, we have a new rule started on the 01.06. And yes, it's very difficult to keep "up to date" if you don't read the forum every day. A page with all the guidelines could really be helpful. And Michelle said that we all wait patiently for the new set of categories. Michelle, you seem to be very cool, really. I, personnally don't believe in it anymore. I never thought, it's so difficult to do it. Just an example: on Red Bubble, they have over 2,000 groups where you can put your images. Groups with an exact definition of what you can submit in this group. All images are examinated before they accept them in this particular group. We really need new categories with rules like what fit this particular category. The landscape category, for example, is far too big. And maybe a notification on the start page, each time when we get a new rule or any change could also be very helpful. And a FAQ page which was also mentioned. Anything which would make it more comprehensive for everybody.
Michelle: thanks a lot for your comment about my mantis. My brother and my neighbour have it both on their wall already (with some of my other pictures). For me, it's better than an award. It shows me that other people also appreciate my work and make me proud.

Michelle, I have to be cool headed, flying off the handle gets us nowhere in real life so i take cyberspace just as it comes :) I'm happy you have some of your work on display in friends homes, that for me is worth more than all the awards here put together, now if only i could get as good as you ;)

I see two main problems, the rules are not enforced by Pixoto and they are not followed by many of the Players. Also the shear volume of images makes enforcement impossible and many Players don't read or don't care about the rules, this is compounded by language barriers. There are many exceptional images and there are many really bad images but hopefully it can be a learning experience to help people take better photos.

There is far too much time worrying over who is breaking the rules and not enough spent submitting great images !

No matter where you go someone will break the rules, ! So we need 3 things,

1, A definition of the rules that everyone knows,

2, An easy way to report infringements so we dont have to have the long standing debate on the same subject every day !

3, And last but not least, we need to accept the rules will be bent and let Pixoto decide if it is too much or not

Lets spend more time sumitting good images and less time complaining that someone else did something i cant, Or There are 2 images that if you squint might look too similar, thats Pixotos job ours is to submit images and learn to get better at it !

Just my Oppinion !

ABSOLUTELY true! this is exactly what i have been trying to get across for quite some time. in the end pixoto is fun and as i repeatedly said - a good pic will prevail - sooner or later.
