If you don't post pictures on this site you should not be allowed to vote in duels.

I have seen some discussion on the board about this but not sure if anyone has formally submitted this as a suggestion. So here it is. I propose that if you have an account on this site but don't post pictures you shouldn't be allowed to vote in duels. Allowing people to do so, opens the door for photographers to have their friends open accounts simply to vote for their images if they come up in duels.

While I agree, I think it would unfortunately be too easy to get around. If you think about a situation as you describe it -- someone who has specific motives for voting that may not be fair to all Pixoto members -- then to avoid being banned, all that person would have to do is post a couple of photos. I think some sort of greater enforcement on active participation would be necessary.

It is unfortunate that people deliberately try to affect the outcome of the duels by voting when they are in no position to have their photos voted for or against. But if people wish to spend their time on a photography site to which they don't contribute photographs, as sad as that sounds, then that's their business. Their time is their own to waste.

Good point. I'm betting some don't have any pics to post though.

It's gotta start somewhere. Do it, refine it later.

Just about everyone in the USA over 16 has a cell phone with a camera and should your suggestion ever get implemented--which is highly doubtful, all they have to do is take one of their photos and upload it to Pixoto. Also, it appears you have not read Jasenka's replies (2) to Pete Bobb's idea he posted about a week back about duels and "followers". If you get the chance, you should read it.

Well thanks so much for your input. What's with the tone though? Its possible you don't realize it but your comments can be somewhat rude. I'm a big boy and all so not a huge deal but its unnecessary. It reminds me of junior high know-it-alls. Maybe read this line to yourself "should your suggestion ever get implemented--which is highly doubtful". Does that not sound rude? Then you follow up by pointing out that surely I missed a post on this board that apparently covers this topic. Forgive me for not reading every single thread on this board. Had I seen that this topic was being covered I would have commented there. I'll take a look back and see what Jasenka's replies were there. Have a good night.

I am not being rude at all--I am expressing an opinion and also bringing to your attention an interesting post from Pete Bobb and Jasenka's replies within. You have a good night, too.

one man's expressing an opinion is another being rude , so you should ask the forum if they thought the comments rude or not I for one think it rude but this is only a data set of three, 2 for being rude and 1 for not so need more data just like the voting of the pics and have a very good morning or as we say downunder G'day mate

if they take a pic with their mobile phone great they have just become a photographer and their opinion has just become more relevant, and we can a least judge their photo skill as they are so willing to do to the rest of us .

And if their photos are terrible then we can dismiss their views on our photos .as not useful to us , we who want to improve look up to and listen when better photographers talk ,but not so much if they wont or can't put up their own work particularly those that plagiarize their cover photos and offer no photos of their own
